I have several models of Garmin GPS units. The 50 is a good solid unit, and if you can find it for under $20.00 it is very good. I now have the 52 Drive which is a new model with better features that I would highly recommend. I use the 50 in a 2nd vehicle that is hardly used. Still the best value is that it has lifetime maps update. Recommenced if you can obtain one inexpensively.

First of all the product has a broken on/off switch. The take me home feature does not take me home and is unreliable. I have not tested the other features. I believe the product was misrepresented by not pointing out the broken on/off switch.

I love this product with a few exceptions. I notice there's glitches on the devise. For example, I tested it by going to walmart, the direction to there was perfect, but on the way back, there was a section of the main road wasn't even there and it got me turning off the main road. Again, going to walmart was perfect but come back wasn't correct. I was on the main road there and back. Another glitch, when I'm at home, the car icon doesn't show the correcti destination. It will show sometimes that I'm parked over a block away or a block away. That only happens when I parked at home. It's probably the structure of my home or garage that could be interfering with the devise. The home icon on the devise shows me that I'm on the corner of the street which I should be in the middle. I've tried other destinations and all went perfect, getting there and coming back. These little glitches is something I can deal with. Still worth it. Other then that, it's a great product. A great buy for $80 I had no problem updating the Garmin but wasn't aware that you have to dowload Garmin Exspress for the update. So if you get thinking about getting this product, download Garmin express head of time because if you wait to dowload and update the life time maps, it will take some time to complete depending on your connection. It's a nice portable gps devise and would recommend it.Read full review
I bought this because I love having a GPS in my car. I have to have one for safety and security f I ever get lost. Plus it beats maps for a road trip. I had the Garmin 1300 which was great but I let someone borrow it and they got so attached to it I didn't ask for it back for a while. In the mean time I've tried a Magellan which was a terrible experience. I got so lost and never made it to my destination. I tried a tom-tom which froze on the start screen and messed up my computer when I was attempting to fix it. After that I will only use Garmin. I like this one. I love the lane details on the display while driving on the freeway. The screen goes into split view and the right side will be a closeup of all the lanes and which ones you need to be in. Also this tells you in how many miles you will make your turn and reminds you again at the turn. The Magellan did not. It was an excellent price and it says the street names which is a must. The only cons are it doesn't hook up to your computer so I'm not sure how to do map updates. Also I've had a problem with it acquiring the satellites a couple of times. One time it didn't acquire them at all. The second time it took a long time. Overall it is good and I do like it. The Garmin Nuvi 1300 is still my favorite.Read full review
This one is a back up to my old one. I drive a truck and am using both of them. Some of the features on the old one quit working so I just use it to keep track of my mileage. I like this model better than some of the new ones. (Written by my husband.)

This is an older model. On the plus side, it's easier to find address than newer models. Once i cleared the unit of old information (Previous and saved addresses). Then updated with Garmin Express (it WILL need a 4Gig or bigger Mini SD card). it was ready to go llike new.

Bought two. One I used a cup holder mount, the second a vent holder. Works and mounts great and has later maps than my 2011 built in Nav unit. This is the perfect size, right on the money where you are. Audio perfect, easy to program, and I have found so many locations that it easily paid for it's self. I am elderly and the Gamin keeps me from getting confused and I also can call up street address after arriving in a congested area. Love them. just bought a 2015 car and didn't up to model with navigation, instead bought this Garmin. Saved thousands.
Love the large type and map display on the screen. Easy to read and the sound is good. Very easy to navigate the system even for a tech challenged person like me. Only pain in the A** is the ball attachment for the holder. VERY difficult to put it on and off without a fight. I ended up just keeping it in the cup holder on console so I could easily put it away when leaving the car. At first thought it was just me, but both my roommates gave up it was such a hassle. The product is great but the holder for the window is not.
When I initialy bought this product it was be cause my husband was going over the road as a truck driver and was needing a new Gps we already had one Garmin so we like the garmin family of products. After receiving it we used quite a bit around locally to get used to it is very up to date and easy to function. He uses it daily and I even took t with me and the grandkids on a mountain trip to Tennesee was expertly on the mark as to where I was at all times.
