The premise of this shield is to keep some engine heat off the battery, as heat's a killer. The original shield in my '14 F-150 had been damaged, eaten away by some battery acid and wear and tear. This is a FoMoCo part, so it's an exact fit. The only improvement they could make is in regards to its reliability. It's not a very robust product, but it serves the service provided no acid gets in contact with it and it's not tossed around or manhandled.
