***CLEAN YOUR GAMES BEFORE USE*** (So it won't dirty the new pin connector) Nintendo NES System Action Set Console NEW 72 Pin Installed with Mario. Condition is "Seller refurbished". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Listing includes: NES console with new pin connector installed 2 OEM controllers OEM power adapter Super mario bros / Duck hunt with manual OEM RF switch Everything in great working condition!!
You can feel the distinctive touch of its two rectangular controllers and red buttons, have fun with the system's NES Zapper, and kick back while you use them to play “Duck Hunt” and “Super Mario Bros.”. The console features a loading cartridge in the front and has 2kB of on board RAM, which can be expanded with a game cartridge. With a color palette of 48 colors and six grays and a display resolution of 256 x 240 pixels, you can enjoy the old school style while playing your favorite classics. If you're not the hands on type, then Nintendo consoles can also make great vintage display items. You might not be able to keep your NES games tucked away for long, though. All of the cords are long, which can help if you're using this NES video game console with a modern television. This system weighs 5 pounds and measures 14 inches by 12 inches. You can find plenty of components to make your NES work with different configurations. If you need to connect your Nintendo to a flat screen TV that doesn't have any composite jacks, then a simple HDMI adapter will work. A Famicom games adapter will enable you to play games of this type. You can even play classic Japanese Nintendo games on your NES without requiring a Super Nintendo. Some Nintendo games like “Final Fantasy” and “Castlevania”” feature a Save function. The mini battery in these games enables players to save their progress just like they did back in the 1980s. Playing on the Nintendo Entertainment System can be a nostalgic experience for some. Gamers who were too young to remember the NES when it first came out can still enjoy playing it. Whether it's “Super Mario” you can't wait to play or some other game, this Nintendo system can provide hours of entertainment each day.
So my fiancée had been bit by the nostalgia bug, and being the console gamer she is, she has been hoping to get a NES for some time now. After perusing around different sites and sellers that would work for our current setup, I stumbled across this little baby. I can tell the seller takes pride in the products he sells because this thing works better than the day it rolled off the factory floor! The console came with a replacement/non-oem Nintendo controller with an extra-long, 3.5 meter cable (I also ordered an extra one by itself as this particular package only came with one controller, as well as nes controller extension cables).
Functionally-speaking, it works without problem, and with the disabled lock-out chip, that means the console also accepts imports carts, and game carts not directly certified by nintendo (homebrew and otherwise).
Now, Asthetically-speaking: the console is in pretty decent shape for its age. There are some scratches, but that's expected for a 30+ year-old console. I am most certainly not complaining about that.
Controller ports: I noticed that the controller port 1 lacked any "snap" sound/feel notifying that the controller had been plugged in. The same cannot be said for controller port 2, so I can tell that this console was historically played by a single person.
Otherwise, this was a great deal, and I can definitely tell that the seller/refurbisher is a passionate gamer.Read full review
The device worked at first with the cartridge it came with but when I put another cartridge in it quit working and I got the red flashing light. This is a common problem, so I opened it up and snipped the pin on the chip that detects unauthorized cartridges and triggers the red flashing light. (Note: I was using genuine cartridges.) . Still didn't work, so I opened it back up and replaced the 72 pin connector (again common problem) and then it did work with my cartridges. (Note: The RF on the back didn't work either but it works with AV cables.) So with a little investment and tinkering the system did work. Not upset about my purchase but it should have been considered FAIR condition and not Excellent/Near Mint.
If you want to reexperience the golden age of console gaming, then the Nintendo Entertainment System is the way to go.
Since no new games for the console are being manufactured due to the obvious age of the system, selection is limited. However, that does not mean that good games still cannot be found.
If you're like me, and not only want to relive a part of your childhood, but also finally get to play those games that were hard to find or your parents weren't able to get for you, then you won't be sorry. Games are relatively easy to find via the wonders of the internet. It's also been a perfect way to introduce my children to gaming, as many games for the platform are simple to grasp and don't have overly complicated control schemes.
You won't find HD graphics, cinematic cutscenes, or ground-breaking AI, but you will find many timeless classics.
In short, don't accept any emulations/substitutions - get the full experience (including blowing out those cartridges before playing them!) You won't be sorry.Read full review
Recieved the item today, and I was very disappointed that a "Tested" item was 100% non-functional. It has the dreaded "blinking red light" issue. I know it isn't my game cartridges to blame. I have a remade system that accepts nearly every game I own. I took a game out of that system, put it into this recent purchase, and it does not work. This is after I spent an hour and a half cleaning and restoring the outside case of all dust and grime.
System looks good, everything described was included. However, the AC adapters which originally came with the product were not included. Not a big deal, but not quite a full set. Solid 4/5 stars.
