Unlike Canon's and Nikon's digital high end cameras, the S5000 series FinePix cameras are light weight. They are full featured enough for the professional yet easy to master by the novice. The manuals are well written and easy to follow. This series is anywhere from 6 to 10 years old but used ones that are in good condition because these cameras are owned and cared for by serious photogs and are not bought by the casual snap-shooter. I have three of the S5000 series (S5000, S5200, and an S5600)and I love them all. They even shoot great videos. The only negative I can think of is that they use the XD-PictureCard for memory. It comes in no more than 2GB size. Fuji has gone to the more popular SD cards in their newer models.
My brother in law purchased this camera several years back. The picture is great and the zoom is incredible! I purchased three since. One for me ,one for my future son in law and another for my brother in law. ( the first one he bought was dropped on cement and broke). It is fairly easy to use and does have an automatic setting as well as manual settings. I would definitly recommend this camera for anyone who wants an easy to use 35mm digital with an awesome zoom.
i think i love what others have admitted to. the ease of use, the fine ability to enlarge at the 6mm level. the ability to 'pretend' i'm using an SLR and yet happily choose the AUTO setting. i've bought several of these......i keep an extra around and give the others, when i'm pretty sure they work, as gifts. i love these cameras. i've also had great good luck in my purchases on ebay. the sellers have been honest and patient i guess it's all been and is good. edith ann esbensen
I bought this Fujifilm FinePix S5000 to replace the one I bought new in 2003. I tried to have mine fixed but was told the sensor was bad and could not be fixed.I had also bought a 2X Telephoto and a Titanium 0.38X Wide Angle Lens that only fit this camera several years ago. I was so happy when I received this camera and they fit great, now I'm back taking pictures and video's. I love this Camera, so easy to use.
Bought one new. Loved it. They have a problem w/chip burnout. Bought two more used ones after the first one died because we love em. They DO have a delay in the shutter which causes some missed shots. Try to shoot just BEFORE you want the shot for best results. Better zoom than many cameras costing more.
