Sure is efficeint as scanner and software paln for scannin g could not have been simpler. This scanner just chugs along with rapid scaning for hours without overheating. I'm a ham and needed a scanner like this for vhf spotting as I use a motorola xtl5000 and there is plenty of channels to program it with spotter reports from scanner the chore is a whole lot easier. Still learning how to use all of the features of this scanner, but this scanner is the best t scanner that I have ever had.
