Combining two robust formats, DVD and 8 GB HDD, for storage simultaneously in a hybrid design, the Hitachi DZ-HS300A camcorder simplifies and integrates recording, storing, and sharing functions within the unit, all without the need of a PC. The Hitachi hybrid DVD/HDD camcorder weighs 0.9 lbs; has physical dimensions of 3.6 inches in height, 2.4 inches in width, and 5.3 inches in depth; and runs on Lithium-ion batteries, recording up to 110 minutes of video on a single charge. The 1-Second Quick Start from standby mode ensures that the user is ready to shoot almost immediately, and the integrated 8 GB HDD on the hybrid digital camcorder enables almost 6 hours of recording time. The user can directly transfer the contents to a DVD with a single button or edit videos using the thumbnail interface. Moreover, the Multiformat+ drive on the hybrid digital camcorder burns various DVD formats. The Hitachi hybrid DVD/HDD camcorder allows the user to convert any selected frame from the recording into a still digital photograph by simply selecting the frame and saving it as a JPEG image on the SD memory card. Other key features on the Hitachi DZ-HS300A camcorder are a 2.7-inch wide-screen format LCD that records in true 16:9 widescreen, drop-proof Zero G sensor to protect the HDD, 25x optical zoom, 1200x digital zoom, 680k pixel CCD image sensors, MPEG2 encoding, and two-channel Dolby digital audio recording. I love the image quality but a couple of problems
I like everything about the camcorder except three things. The mini disk aspect doesn't work. I have had the same model of the item before and it did work so I think it's just this one. Every now and then it tells me it needs to repair the data and I lose some stuff I shot. It's very easy ( too easy) to turn the thing off when your filming.
