About the 2007 Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla is a compact/subcompact car that, in 1997, became the world's top-selling nameplate; more than 35 million Toyota Corolla vehicles have been sold over the past 45 years. Featuring a 4-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive, the Corolla is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission. Known for its smaller size, reliability, affordable pricing, and excellent fuel economy, the Toyota Corolla is considered to be a great starter vehicle but is not a good choice for a larger family.

The Corolla offers a 1.8 liter 16-valve 4-cylinder engine that features dual variable valve timing; this engine delivers 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb.-ft at 4,400 rpm. Although the Corolla ostensibly seats five people, the back seat is less than roomy; three adults in the rear will likely feel cramped. The Corolla offers 12.3 cubic feet of interior cargo space and is capable of towing light weights up to 1,500 pounds. Mileage estimates for the Corolla are 26 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. Up until 2010, the Corolla was produced in Fremont, California; since that year, Corollas have been manufactured in Canada, the United Kingdom, and eleven other countries.

The original model of the Toyota Corolla dates back to 1966 when it was first introduced. In the ensuing years, the Corolla has undergone nine major changes, with the latest version of the Corolla released in North America in 2008. From the 2009 model to date, the redesigned Corolla features a larger exterior and interior as well as options for a 2.4 liter engine and a navigation system. Taller drivers and passengers appreciate the roomier shoulder room in the Corolla's cabin, and smaller improvements like a keyless startup and an auxiliary audio input system are also welcome.

The three trim lines for the Corolla, known as Corolla, Corolla LE, and Corolla S, feature a tilting/telescoping steering wheel, dual glove compartments, and six airbags. The LE offers a 60/40 fold-down rear seat and cruise control, while the Corolla S features spoilers, 5-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels, and integrated fog lamps. The Corolla LE and S trims offer an optional power moon roof with sliding sunshade. As an entry-level model, the simpler Corolla is popular with many car buyers who are looking for a deal.

The awards that the Toyota Corolla has received over its long history include Best Compact Car in North America" from J. D. Power and Associates in 2004, 2002, 2001, 2000, and 1999. In addition, the 2003 Corolla was recognized with the "Automotive Market Environmental Superiority" award in the subcompact car category. ... View more
