About the 2003 Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is a mid-size, 4-door sedan. Toyota makers designed the Camry with the family in mind. Its spacious interior, roomy trunk, fuel efficiency, safety features, stylish exterior and moderate price all add up to an excellent value. Above all, its reputation for dependability is a leading factor in its consumer appeal, making it one of the best selling cars in the auto industry.

The Camry is designed and produced by the Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). With production factories in the U.S. and around the world, TMC headquarters is based in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan. The Camry is available with a standard 4-speed or optional automatic transmission. The consumer has a choice of two engines – the fuel efficient, 4-cylinder engine or the optional, more powerful, V6 engine. Due to a special technology called the variable valve timing with intelligence", both engines deliver the optimal balance of power with precision. Whether making short errands around town or travelling long-distance on the highway, driving a Camry is a smooth and enjoyable experience.

The first Camry debuted as an independent model line in 1982 with the name Toyota Celica Camry. It gradually evolved from a narrow body, compact car to a wide body, mid-size car. By the 1990s, Camry became the stand-alone name for this Toyota model. Today the Camry is available in four models: the basic LE, the sporty SE, the top-of-the-line XLE and the Hybrid. With a focus on safety, standard features of the new 2011 model includes: 1) The Toyota Star Safety system, which offers a combination of safety features, including vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes and brake assist; 2) An advanced airbag system consisting of seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag and airbags for both front and rear side windows; 3) A tire pressure monitoring system that automatically notifies the driver of critically-low tire pressure.

Exterior features for the 2011 Camry models are quite similar to the 2010 models and are not all that interesting. However, there are some optional interior features that are exceptional, including: 1) the "plasmacluster ionizer" that reduces germs and enhances the interior air quality; 2) a voice activated, touch-screen DVD navigation system; 3) a backup camera that displays the area behind the car on the DVD navigation screen.

Camry's stellar reputation for dependability was somewhat tarnished with its highly-publicized recalls in 2010 due to a dangerous acceleration problem. Toyota has taken steps to correct the issues in the older models and there have been no reports of this problem in the new 2011 models. With its slogan, "Moving Forward", Toyota continues to emphasize vehicle quality, dependability, safety, styling and innovation to ensure positive ownership experiences. ... View more
