TLDR: Excellent, worth the price, had no issues matching bad reviews, GREAT FOR PETS!

I purchased a knock-off before, and it fell down the stairs and stuck to one area. I was hesitant to try again, but I gave the real one a chance and I am SO glad I did. I read so many reviews, and there are really good and really bad ones. I will say that this Roomba is so easy to set up and change preferences. I used my regular vacuum the day before, but the Roomba came back with a MOUNTAIN of cat hair. It literally cleaned better than my regular vacuum! It’s so smart. It doesn’t fall down the stairs and it knows the areas it needs to focus on before moving on. I will say that if you’re contemplating this model or any later models, this one is a great product with a great price. It hasn’t gotten stuck on anything like cords or rugs. I use one invisible fence and it does it’s job seamlessly. I have 3 cats, so this picked up stray litter, little pieces of hard food, and cat hair. No problem. After each cycle I clean out the bin and it takes a solid 10 seconds. Other than that, I haven’t found any maintenance that needs to be tweaked per use. When it goes on schedule, it leaves the base, cleans the entire house, then returns to base and charges itself. I saw some reviews where people said it wouldn’t go to the base, but I haven’t experienced that problem. It’s quiet...maybe the equivalent of a fan running in the background. You can turn it on and forget about it because it is completely self sufficient. I understand people have different experiences with any product, but I can’t speak any higher for this vacuum. Because it cleans better than my regular vacuum, realistically I wouldn’t need to vacuum again, but I’ll still do an occasional spot check maybe once a week. If you have pets, it’s a no brainer. If you’re busy, you can program it to run while you’re at work. My cats aren’t afraid of it, they chase it around. I was in between this and the 890, but I couldn’t really justify the price for minimal changes. I bought this refurbished from the manufacturer, and you would think it’s brand new. I’m very impressed, and it’s definitely worth the cost. Highly recommend.

Not working properly and makes me waste time having to relocate it.

The robot goes around in circles within a 4-6 feet area. I need to be pushing or stopping and placing in another location for it to clean another area within the same room. It is making me waste more time than if I was actually using a regular vacuum cleaner. I have had iRobot Roombas before and this is the first time I experience this issue. It is frustrating and disappointing.

Love my Roomba

This is the 3rd Roomba and 2nd Model 860 fir me. It runs every day at 2am Now I have 1 in the bedroom/home office area that runs daily in the afternoon and one in the kitchen/great room/hallways area running in the wee hours of the morning. Makes life with Shelties much less hairy!!

Actually works great!

I absolutely love this Roomba! I set a schedule and it comes on and cleans without me worrying about starting it. It actually cleans a lot better than I thought I empty the tray every 2 days. I used to have to drag out the vacume every day to clean up mud and dirt my husband brings in on his shoes, but now Roomba does that for me! The only drawback is that it doesn't have a certain pattern it goes in. It may go in a room 10 timbers before it gets it clean. Occasionally it misses spots because of it. The more expensive model will go in a pattern, but who wants to spend that much money? Not I!

Not quite what I'd hoped for.

I actually returned the robot because it got lost in one room with an open door and after finally getting out went back in to the same room and got lost again. In addition we have two dogs and although it did an O.K. job I went over the same area with a traditional vaccum cleaner and picked up more hair. Finally the snap closure to the collection compartment broke on initial use. I liked the concept and the robot is mostly well built and easy to program so perhaps the newer models will be something I look into the future.
