These are great little butcher block tops for your projects. I've purchased 3 of them so far, with plans to purchase more, the neighbors want one now. These are supposedly European Birch, which is a soft hardwood, I wouldn't recommend cutting on these like you would a solid maple butcher block. But, these are superior to maple when it comes to finishing, these tops take stain very well unlike maple which is too dense for stain to soak in. These have an A side and B side, the A side is nearly flawless upon arrival, but the B side is fairly knotty and not a big deal as it will be on the bottom. There have been relatively few knots on the A side, if there is a knot, it is very small and not missing the knot, so no filling knot holes on the A side. These are solid wood all the way through, so you can cut these down to whatever size suits your needs. I hope this review helps any future buyers, I was a little skeptical on the first purchase for that low of a price, but was pleasantly surprised when it showed up. It is packaged extremely well and very professionally done. Read full review

I do a fair amount of woodworking, and I had intended to piece together my own butcher block. But when I saw this at such. low price, I figured I would try it. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received it. Great quality, well built, and I could not have purchased the wood to make it myself at this low a price.

I drilled 8 (7/8”) holes about an inch deep in the bottom of this countertop to accept two 24” wide chrome wire shelving units from Home Depot. ($25.00 each) I used a shelf as the template and dropped the countertop onto the top of the legs. Two coats of polyurethane and I had an inexpensive beautiful storage desk. Simple!

As described. Had an obvious 'good' side though the other side was fine. Great value - no blemishes. I finished it with a satin urethane and it looks great!

I have not open the box to see the counter top yet. I don't plan on opening the box until I'm ready to work on the installation. I just feel that there is so very little that can happen.
