We started reading the stories at night for bed time stories. The boys ages 9-10 loved the stories as they were interesting and short enough not lose thier interest. I highly recommend these core knowledge books for add/adhd and asbergers or high functioning autism children. They are factual and short and the children (at least mine ) could retain the knowledge . we will continue reading it thru the summer months as an extended 3rd grade summer school . also I bought what your 4th grader should know and I intend on using it through out the school year to teach core knowledge on all subjects . it is broad based so if your studies are leading you into us history/ you can look up history in the book and incorporate it also . so it is a great book to have on hand . I will probably continue the series , they go up to the 8th grade, I think . well worth the money -great for teachers and home educators as well . teaches you what you should be teaching in each grade and How to teach math . I really liked the drawings and self explanitary way they made communicating math to me . I was nervous about teaching math to my children as it is not my strong point . but this book is wonderful . Great book for understanding the knowledge that your third grader should be acquiring. It really makes you go back to third grade and wonder "Did I really learn all this" It is a wonderful refresher course for parents and you can use the book as a measuring stick test your child's core knowledge.
I really like this series! It is very specific and is excellent for a new homeschooler or even the seasoned homeschooler. It has alot of information that I find very helpful for parents as well as activities for the child.
