M.A.D. stands for “Missile Attack and Defense”. It's a variation of Missile Command, with a game style comparable to the Apple II game "Sabotage". The gameplay involves protecting your "energy stations" on the bottom half of the screen. You do so by aiming a cannon, and shooting at the moving targets from above. Unfortunately, your cannon doesn't have many different angles to work with, so half of the time, aiming your cannon at the enemy is pretty much impossible; you'll shoot all around them, but never successfully hit them. And even for the Atari 2600, the graphics and sound aren't very good. M.A.D. is competently programmed, but flatly produced.
