You can bet if Nicholas Sparks puts a book out there, it is going to sell. This scenario is due to his expertise as a storyteller extraordinaire. Once he completes his tour of duty, he walks from Colorado to Hampton, North Carolina in search of the woman in the picture. Once he arrives in North Carolina, he takes a job at a dog training facility where he meets Nana, the elderly owner of the facility, Elizabeth, her granddaughter and her young son, Ben. Elizabeth, he discovers is the woman in his lucky picture. The storyline stays true and builds to an exciting climax. There are stories within this story that adds story interest. The Lucky One is another great love story by Nicholas Sparks. In this book, Sparks creates a love triangle between Beth, the single mom, Logan, the Iraqi war vet, and Clayton, the ex-husband to Beth. Clayton is a horrible man and father, and when he thinks Beth might become involved with Logan, he threatens to destroy them. The ending is quite suspensful and satisfying. I do think too much of the middle is associated with Logan and Beth falling in love. At times it became quite tedious. Overall, this is one of Sparks' best books and I recommend to anyone.
The whole book was love, romance, the damage of war on one's body, mind & well-being. The love & comfort of a pet can be the cure of many afflictions. Also, finding a purpose in life, can be very rewarding.

I love Nicholas Sparks' books. He makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the story. The books are better than the movies that have been made, but I could watch The Notebook many times, and still cry! I haven't gotten the time to read "The Lucky One" yet, but I've got some travel time in the car soon, and that's what I'll be doing (my husband will be driving!) to pass the time.
I have every book written by Nicholas Sparks. They all have been outstanding and "The Lucky One" is no exception. Due to our tough economic times, my less than forgiving budget didn't allow me to purchase this book at full price from a retailer. I didn't want to wait for it to come out on paperback and I was number 73 in line to check it out from my local library. So thanks to E-bay I was able to purchase this book in excellent condition just as though I picked it up from my local retailer.
