Go For The More Rare 75 Cent Variant
ASM #238 was published during a "cover price variant window" during which two different types of newsstand copies were produced by Marvel, one type with a 60 cent cover price (sold on newsstands in the US) and the other type with a 75 cent cover price (sold on newsstands in Canada and priced for Canadian currency). The population of Canada is drastically lower -- Canada was 9.8% of the North American market for comic books by population size at the time of publication. And then only the newsstand portion of the Canadian market got the 75 cent cover price copies because the Direct Edition type sold in comic shops across North America were identical (having both prices listed). Check the CGC census for the current count of 75 cent copies ("broken out" as the "Canadian Edition" variant) and you'll be amazed how relatively rare they are with surviving copies far more scarce than even the single-digit original distribution percentage. With Tattooz intact, a step more rare yet. Despite this relative rarity, 75 cent cover price copies are a relatively overlooked and undervalued variant and so it is well worth the extra time, patience, and effort to seek them out!

A must-have for all Spider-Man fans!
A key Spider-Man book featuring the first appearance of the Hobgoblin. I would consider this issue to be one of the hardest books to get, especially in a high grade, other than the first 100 issues or so. Beware, though, because it came with a tattoo in an insert inside the back cover. So, it may still have the insert but you have to hold it up to the light to make sure the tattoo is still inside. That is what makes this issue so valuable to a Spider-Man collector because kids were tearing the inserts out and damaging the book or just removing the tattoo from the insert. Consider yourself lucky if you get a high-grade copy of this book with the tattooz still intact.
