it damaged the locknut, should have tapped it out with a screwdriver
The wrench is not sized correctly for the washer tub locknut that it's designed for, the prongs are too far apart and engage only the tips of the locknut notches. The wrench dug into the locknut metal and chewed up the tips of the notches. I should have used a chisel or screwdriver to tap it out instead.
