|For any photographer who loves capturing the beauty of landscapes, the Sony SEL 1018 wide-angle zoom camera lens is a must-have product. It is a 10-18mm lens with the power to yield dramatic perspectives. The wide angle allows you to capture more of the natural world in one sweep. In addition, the width enables users to take bright and vivid photos even in dim light. Experiment with this Sony 10-18mm lens to reveal the striking photos that result. Weighing only 8 ounces and measuring 2.875 inches by 2.5 inches, the Sony SEL1018 f/4 OSS lens is very portable. It features eight lens groups in 10 elements. The minimum focus distance is 0.25 meters with a maximum magnification ratio of 0.1x combined with aps-c maximum format size. The equipment also supports the revolutionary Optical SteadyShot image stabilization mechanism. Among various significant features is a 10mm minimum focal length, which allows you to capture finer indoor details and outdoor environments. In fact, users can enjoy greater creative control due to the F4 maximum aperture that allows them to adjust the depth of the full field as they desire. The constant maximum aperture of F4 also helps in taking noise-free shots even in the dim light. Accordingly, the fast shutter speed does not raise the ISO sensitivity unnecessarily. Similarly, the image quality is automatically enhanced by the extra-low-dispersion glass. The glass is designed to significantly reduce chromatic aberrations, even at 10mm focal length. The three aspherical elements also help produce high-quality images by reducing distortion. The signature circular aperture comes handy to produce smooth and beautiful photos as it helps to tackle problems with images that are out of focus in a full-frame photoshoot. The built-in image stabilizer is another extremely useful function that can increase the photo quality during night scenes and dimly lit interiors. As a result, you will get a detailed, blur-free image. The reflection in a photo is enhanced by a distance encoder in these Sony SEL 10-18mm f/4 OSS lenses. The distance encoder improves photo-taking capabilities of cameras by detecting the position of the focus mechanism. The process is completed by sending a signal to the CPU to measure the distance of the subject. During flash photography, the distance encoder is particularly useful because it calculates the amount of flash output needed to provide a clear image. Other useful features of this Sony component include an improved mechanism for internal zoom focusing, ensuring you get the shot you want from a distance. Accordingly, the middle frame of the optical system moves without extending the length of the entire frame. The lens length is also controlled by other useful features, including fast autofocusing and minimum focusing distance. The Sony SEL 10-18mm f/4 OSS E-mount camera lens is a practical choice for professionals who like user-friendly mechanics to help them achieve a better performance whether they are taking photographs of the landscape or of indoor events.|

If you want an ultra-wide angle lens for Sony e-mount cameras, look no further -- this is the one! Even though it has an APS-C sensor size, it still works great on a full frame Sony camera (in full frame mode, it works from 12-17mm without any vignetting). Combined with APS-C modes, that gives you a range of 12-27mm. What ultra wide angle lens could give you more? Furthermore, it has steadyshot and AF capabilities when used with a Sony e-mount camera as well as F/4 constant aperture (which you can change with a Sony A7s using the wheel on the upper right front of the camera body -- the back wheel changes shutter speeds). And the image is SHARP!

Sharp, Lightweight, love the focal length
I wanted a super wide lens that doesn't distort like a fisheye, and this is it! This is my favorite lens, because I like the focal length and wide depth of field. I use this lens more than all my others. Usage: SELP1650(rare;low shutter speed), SEL16F28(never/unusable;too soft), SEL20F28(often;stealth and sharpness), SEL35F18(less often;too narrow), SEL50F18(rare;far too narrow), and SEL55210(often;for long reach). I simply point-and-shoot in the general direction, then crop what I need, during family outings. For architectural and landscape, this is also my favorite lens. I used to struggle with panoramas and jagged edges, but NOW i can take one shot and have everything, with no image glitches. During low-light, wildlife, macro, or stealth/candid photography, I would not use this lens. But I like this lens for general purpose / street photography. It's not the sharpest lens, but it is also not unacceptably soft like the SEL16F28 with/without wide angle adapter. I would subjectively rate sharpness as 'near the SELP1650 kit lens', which is decent, but not stunningly sharp. Vignette and chromatic aberration do not bother me with this lens, but they might be there. I wish I could use the F2.8 11-20mm Tokin_ lens, but there is no E-mount version.

The Wide-Angle to Beat
Hello eBay Community, I hope you receive this well. Now, for starters, the Sony SEL1018 has a constant aperture of "4" (f/4), that needs to be remedied on eBay's behalf... On to the review: If you own a Sony NEX/Alpha camera, or plan on getting one, this is one of the first lenses you should pick up. Now, I won't elaborate on the lens overly so here - there being numerous reviews out there (Kurt Munger is a definite "go to" for E-Mount lens information/reviews) - so I will highlight the pros and cons for you instead. Pros: + Only Ultra Wide Angled Zoom lens native to Sony's E-Mount. 10-18mm (15-27mm relative to 35mm format) + Extremely high quality image rendering, even on the 16mp sensor I have been testing it on. Corner to corner, this lens is a beast + Sharp image quality, f/5.6-8 the definite sweet spot, with a wonderfully crisp range f/4+ + Light weight and well balanced + (To speak to my own copy) Perfectly damp "Zoom" ring + Price vs Value Ratio = "Value" is way above Cons: - Overly damp "Focus" ring... This may be good or bad, dependent upon preferences. My copy is very tight when turning - Width. The lens happens to be short in length, and wide in diameter. If you have large hands, like myself, and shoot on a NEX-6, NEX-7 or soon to be A6000, you will undoubtedly be running into an issue with ergonomics... This is rectified when camera/lens is mounted on a tripod, but as a walk about you will have to find clever, impractical ways of holding it* - Constant f/4. Not the fastest wide angle lens out there There is plenty more I find favorable, and nothing else I find disagreeable with this lens. The way the NEX/Alpha line-up are being made - and marketed, for that matter - are both "Compact" and "Light." Something easy to lug around, yet durable for the day's shoot. A device and lenses that won't burden you, but compliment your eyes in capturing moments. I think Sony has done a fine job thus far with their Mirrorless Camera roster, and I am happy to say that the Sony SEL1018 makes a wonderful additional to their current line of E-Mount lenses. Happy bidding everyone. *PS-Please don't be too wary of this "con." They way the handle sits alongside the lens is definitely unnecessarily close, but by no means a deal breaker. Sincerest Regards, Patrick Marlett
Great lens for Sony e-mount
Basically I've found the expert online reviews of this lens to be true. Excellent image quality, good build quality, and works perfectly with my NEX-6 body. It's the most expensive of the 2 or 3 different lenses of this type available it also the best. I'm sure the Sigma and Ronkin lenses would work nearly as well but I wanted an actual Sony lens and I'm happy.

The only Native Ultra Wide Zoom for the E-Mount Camera. Good little lens.
My lens is an F/4.0 OSS lens. I bought this lens for taking Real Estate and Landscape Photos. This is the only Native Ultra Wide Zoom for the E-Mount with having to use an adapter. Picture Quality is very Good. This is great for Daylight Photography, haven't tried Night Time or Astrophotography with the lens yet. You will want to use a Tripod with a level when doing Real Estate Photography, and you will want to use a program like Light Room to straighten up some of the converging lines. But it is a really fun lens.
