I've never had a, inexpensive, used Samsung hard drive fail on me.
Samsung's 3.5 inch hard drives are particularly well constructed, and almost twice as heavy as the equivalent Seagates and Western Digitals. Even used, with a lot of mileage on them, I've never had one fail on me. I did have a spontaneous and catastrophic failure with the first Intel SSD I bought NEW! And because I was easily able to restore my Windows 8 image of that SSD to an "old school" hard drive, I immediately started cloning my several Windows 7 and Windows 8 SSD's to inexpensive, used hard drives, like these Samsungs. SSDs are obviously much faster, but not necessarily better...

For the price
Formost was the price. My WD hard drive crashed (quite common for the brand name) so I wanted to try a different brand name. It was that time anyway to do my yearly full HD format anyway (I keep a backup of my data often) and switch over to Vista OS. The Drive performed perfectly during the installs of the OS and Apps. I was up and running in no time. Its quiet and fast. All this for a merely $32.00. Not bad at all. I am Happy.

functions as designed and expected
I purchased this HD on the advice of an online forum due to problems with losing restore points on windows vista. The problem at first was fixed but now has returned to a lesser degree with the replacement HD. I still don't know what is causing the lost restore points but I am fairly sure it isn't the HD. I am using the old HD as a second/BU. The purchased HD supplier was not the lowest price but i was impressed with their stated techniques on quality control and I am not disappointed.

Ecellent Hard Drive Worth the money
Good stable drive, Bought it to attach to a PCI sata raid controller card. Good storage with good transfer speed. Would buy this drive again and recommend.
