I chose this phone for the slide-out keyboard. Too many mistakes with the other models. Only problem I have noticed is that from time to time, using the "P" takes me to my music & the "S" key does't work. If I reboot, that fixes the problem, but that may be at an inopportune moment. Otherwise, I love this phone - this is my 2nd one & I will stay with this model as long as it is available.

Like the keyboard. Don't like the short battery life Don't like that about every other day I feel it get quite warm in my pocket. The only way to stop that is to turn it off and back on. When this happens the screen is black so have no idea what is going on with it. I only use it as a phone and for texting, no apps. Do like the size.

I have long nails and have a hard time texting without a keyboard, and it's hard to find a smart phone with a keyboard. This phone has a nice keyboard that makes texting easy and fast. I also love the voice recognition on this phone, it usually gets the voice text correct the first time I say it. One thing it does need is a notification light when there is a text or email waiting to be read. When the phone is in standby I have to push the button to light it up to know if I have an awaiting text or email. That's a bit of a pain.
i owned a stratosphere before and was familiar with it so I decided to replace it with another. The phone is relatively easy to use, but I consistently get complaints on the sound quality when I am talking to others. The reception on my end is good. The battery life is unusally short, but I got an extended life battery with this one that almost doubles the battery time. I thought I would like the fact that it has a full size qwerty keyboard, but the key positions are awkward and it is hard to reach the top keys. I liked the feel of my LG ENV much better eventhough it was a smaller phone. However, I have gotten use to the virtual keyboard now and prefer it over the fullsized qwerty board. However, it is sometime extremely sensitive and it picks up the "v" or "b" key a lot when I know I tapped the space bar. overall, it is not a bad phone but now that I am overty the full size qwerty keyboard, I would definitely pick something else when my plan renews.Read full review
While I got the stratosphere as a free phone with contract (which was a pretty damn good deal), it really hasn't measured up to the expectations. I didn't want an all touch phone because I text way more than i talk on it and i find the touch keyboards frustrating to use. The phone itself has some great features and was pretty awesome for the first couple months. I'd say probably 6 months in or so, I started to have trouble with it running slower and slower. 10 months in, the internet was running terribly slow and I was having problems checking facebook even with a full wifi connection at home. 1 year in, the phone decided to start resetting itself randomly (usually right in the middle of texts or while i was using the phone, a couple times it reset right when my alarm was supposed to go off and thus it did not go off and i was late to work). It's now 16 months in and I am currently staring at a black screen that is flashing white "Samsung" letters at me for about 3 or 4 seconds until it goes black and repeats the same thing. This is after I just factory reset the thing too. In all fairness, I have dropped the thing (who doesnt?) a few times and as far as the durability of the case, it took it like a champ. All in all, if you're looking for a cheap cheap phone for a short period of time, you will probably get lucky with this one. If you're the kind of person who doesn't get a new phone til you get your free upgrade, don't get this phone.Read full review
