The Shure SRH840 has excellent sound delivery and detail .. this is easily the best headphones I have used in my home studio so far. The little boost in mid to high mids suits vocal clarity and to pick up vocal detail. For singers this is an excellent pair to monitor and learn from vocal music .. also good to record with. The real downside is that it is a heavy pair and the head band is not comfortable and pressure starts to build up on a single point on top of the head. So, I am going for a headband mod after seeing some forums about modifying it for a more comfortable experience by removing weight and adding some comfortable head pad. This is a must in my opinon for long term use. The sound is great so it would be worth it. Overall love these headphones.

These headphones are a workhorse! I used for almost everything, from critical listening to mixing. They are comfortable and durable. Not very suitable for mp3 player and smartphones though.

Personally, these headphones can take some time and fiddling to find a sweat spot where they are comfortable though some people say they don't have one problem with their comfort. Great pair of headphones for $150 range but they aren't necessarily going to wow you with their sound, especially if they are your first decent pair. They are rather clinical in sound; perfectly balanced, with a huge soundstage that makes you hear every single element of the music. Regardless of their lacking wow factor they'll have you digging through your entire music collection again.
