My children love the Rush Revere books. I bought them as an alternative learning option (as opposed to public school books) for our nations past history. I will read a few pages with the kids and then turn the book over to them and let them alternate reading it aloud. Now every evening before bed they have the book in hand and ready to learn. I was just going to turn them loose and let them read the books themselves ( because I knew Rush was the author and I felt safe that there would be NO "liberal twist" on our wonderful nations history, as is so often the case with other history books) However, after a few chapters I must admit, I cannot pry myself away from the books. Sadly, I feel I may be learning just as much as my children....and we're reading a children's book! What can I say though? I'm a product of public skrewls myself.Read full review

This book is written for children with an easy to read style and interesting characters, one of whom is a talking, time-traveling horse named Liberty. Children travel back in time with their history teacher, Rush Revere, and get acquainted with the patriots who helped build this great country. The conversations are imagined, of course, but the events and people are a very factual part of our history. If you or your children want to learn more about the people and events that shaped our country, read this book!

Excellent, essential, a joy. John Milton, author of Paradise Lost, called a book "a life beyond life," and that is exactly what Rush's book is.

The Rush Revere time-travel history books are phenomenal. I bought a set for our grandson, started reading them and now have bought him another set because I cannot part with mine. Now I am buying them not just for my grandson, but for 2 other little girls as well. Do yourself a favor and buy these books - but make sure you read them yourself. They are not just right-spot on historically, but they are funny, a treat to read.

When I first opened the book, it was the look and feel of the pages that first impressed me. They were thick and looked like vintage parchment. The pictures of history are A+ and the content and fun story kept me wanting to keep turning pages and not leave until I found out how it ended.
