Item worked out of the box to connect my Wii to a 'Smart' TV. Wii had only RCA type jacks and my TV has only HDMI, so this device was a nice cheap compromise. No external power is needed, it draws juice from the included USB cable - I connected it to the back of the Wii. Form factor is small & light. This did NOT up-convert the SD signal from Wii to the TV, it just converted RCA signal to HDMI, so the picture was not as clear as I would have liked, but it's still playable.

Works, but could be better!
It works okay, but unfortunately, you have to use both the HDMI and the USB to get it to work. This is a problem since I have multiple game systems hooked up to the TV. I was hoping that I could leave them all plugged in and just switch the input as needed, but since two of the systems have to be plugged in to the USB port, this is a problem as the TV only has one USB port. Other than having to plug and unplug the USB, it seems to work... Sadly, the picture quality is not the greatest.

Need your analog monitor to display you receiver settings on your new HDMI digital TV?
I had an older analog Harmon Kardon AVR525 receiver and I needed an analog tv to view the monitor output so I could see the surround sound set-up, as it requires a video monitor (TV). I used to be able to view it on my old analog tv; however, when I got a new digital tv I lost this option and my surround configuration got messed up and I could not see what was wrong. I tried may different hook up connections and even Harmon Kardon could not help with my legacy system. so, I ordered this RCA to HDMI Converter and now everything appears from my receiver on my new TV.

It’s good, but...
Does it work? Yes. Is there lag? No. I only really have one complaint, and that’s the resolution. It looks worse than it would if I were just using a CRT (80’s-90’s generation TV) but I suppose I can’t expect much coming from such a cheap purchase. Just don’t expect to buy this as an actual upscaler for something to go from 480p to 720p or 1080p, as this does indeed lower image quality and resolution.
