|The PV-DV400 delivers high resolution digital video that is so sharp, it must be seen to be believed. But that is just the beginning. It also features an 18X optical zoom lens, digital effects, i.LINK and serial interfaces, 3-inch color LCD monitor and color viewfinder, removable 8MB MultiMedia card, and an IR filter that allow recording in near total darkness. Mini DV is the revolutionary digital video format that takes home video recording to new, previously unimaginable levels. Almost 500 lines of horizontal resolution combined with CD-quality audio on a miniature cassette that is 56% smaller than a 8mm tape. And, when using an 80-minute tape in LP mode, the PV-DV400 can record up to two full hours of video. The 3" high-resolution view screen flips out and rotates 270 degrees for great versatility. Tilt it down for high angle overhead shooting in crowds, tilt it up for low-angle shots or tilt it forward for self-portraits. With the built-in speaker, you can play back and watch your entire recording instantly. With 110, 000 Pixels, you'll always get a great image. Color Viewfinder allows you to see what you're recording in full vivid color. 18x Hi-Definition Zoom is a powerful optical zoom that acts like a telescope to get you closer to the action. It's great for close-ups, too. Also, it operates at seven different zoom speeds, so you can go from wide angle to full telephoto in 2 to 22 seconds; a great feature for your cinematic flexibility. Panasonic uses DEIS (Digital Electronic Image Stabilization) to compensate for unintentional hand and camcorder movement to help stabilize recordings, even if you're recording in a moving vehicle or a crowded room. PhotoShot Integrated Digital Still Camera allows you to use the digital camcorder as a digital still camera. You can record up to 750 still images on one 60-minute MiniDV tape in LP mode, and then transfer them to your computer via the IEEE 1394 interface. Great for use in e-mail or printed documents, play them back on a TV for a personal Slide show, or print them as photos on a compatible printer. It can even make simulate a shutter sound like a traditional motor drive camera. Built-in Monitor Speaker allows you to listen to your video on playback. External Input Recording allows you to input video programs from external sources, for employing your camcorder as an auxiliary recorder, or editing audio or video programs. PCM Digital Stereo Recording and Playback provides wider range and better clarity in recording. Automatic Exposure Shutter Speed Control automatically adjusts the shutter speed according to light conditions. Backlight Compensation/ Gain Up reduces the chances of "silhouettes" in your videos by adjusting to backlighting conditions automatically. Bookmark Search probes the blank portions of your tape to find the end of your last recording, even after you have ejected your tape and reinserted it at a later date. SP/LP Tape Speeds provides flexibility in recording choices. SP has normal recording times without a loss of audio or video quality.|

Easy to use
Good image quality
For an older camera this is great. At the time it was new it was exstreamly expensive however I got this used and got a great deal. I do have the exact model that I paid the high amount when I bought it brand new and it worked great, only bad thing is when we bought it it was to use on our vacation in Cancun however we kept having an issue with the moisture sensor because of the high humidity in Cancun everytime we took it out it would stop working and we could not use jt unless it sat outside for a long period of time which made it in convient. But the newer models have come along way and are priced much more reasonable and the newer camera's have a better picture quality. But I still like this one and I got it because mine stopped working and I got this for parts, however I was so pleased with this one it was like brand new not a scratch on it and works perfect. I got another one for parts to repair my other one. If buying used as long as it is working and you get it at a good price. But if someone is trying to sell it for what it cost new you might as well by a brand new updated model as they are newer and better technology and cheaper.

Panasonic PV-DV400D Camcoreder
This camera is a great deal for the price. Light enought to be used by anyone. Excellent video quality and if our looking for low-light capability this camera is 'superb'. Also... the sound is very good, and it's very easy to use right out of the box. I would recommend a high-capacity battery but the standard battery will work well for over an hour.
Excelent Camera for the price!
This camera is: Small enought to take it anywhere Excelent video quality Takes pictures into the MiniDV tape Also... the sound is very great, and it's steady system is one of the best from all the cameras I've been using for the last 5 years. The only bad thing is the original battery, which only holds up to an hour of intense recording. Also the recharging time is a little slow comparing it to a sony or cannon camcorder.
I bought one of these Panasonic Palmcorder PV-DV400s in 2000 to do some simple recording around the house, and with its external microphone jack capability, I was able to use this camera for some work recording as well. I have been extremely pleased with the quality of the camera, but about a year ago I started having problems with some serious digital artifacts showing up every time I recorded anything. I had to retire that first camera after extensive cleanings - apparently it had spent its life over the 8 years that I used it. Thankfully I was able to find another one here on eBay that was very inexpensive, and now I am going right on with recording and playing hopefully for several more years!
