|This 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan Number 177 Baseball Card is a great addition to a baseball card collection. This card features two Mets rookie pitchers, Ryan and Jerry Koosman. Both had strong careers. The Topps card marks their achievements with statistics and information. A single card describes them both. Koosman is listed first on this Topps sports card. It describes how he first entered the public awareness in the minor leagues in 1966. This is when, at 24 years old, he won 12 games for Auburn and accrued a 1.38 ERA. Then, at Jacksonville in 1967, he won 11 more games. At the time, he appeared on this rookie card for the New York Mets, his minor-league lifetime pitching record was 28 wins and 30 losses. That gave him a 483 PCT (percentage wins to losses). He had 496 strikeouts, 156 walks, and a 2.60 ERA. Over his time in the MLB, Koosman showed himself to be an excellent left-hander. During his career, he won 222 games over 19 years, making him an excellent number two starter in several rotations. Nolan Ryan’s profile describes his 17-2 record with Greenville in 1966. While there, he struck out 313 batters. The card describes 21-year-old Ryan as one of the major league's most promising rookies. The card lists the minor-league lifetime pitching record of Nolan Ryan as 21 wins and 10 losses. He had .677 PCT, 445 strikeouts, 200 walks, and a 2.81 ERA. It was in the 1980s that Nolan Ryan struck out his 5,000th batter. He accumulated 324 wins and 5,714 strikeouts over his career, and he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999. Nolan Ryan has appeared on more than 10,000 different baseball cards in his lifetime. This 1968 card, however, was the first. The front of this Topps baseball card contains two framed photos placed side by side against a golden-yellow mesh background. In the left frame of this card is a photo of rookie player Jerry Koosman. In the right frame is a photo of rookie player Nolan Ryan. Both men are shown in the card against the background of a ballpark on a sunny day. Koosman stands erect in the card while Nolan Ryan hunches over in the card as though poised for a pitch. Both men wear their New York Mets baseball caps. Each has the letter "P" beside their name on the cards. This indicates the position of both rookies on the team as pitcher. In a deep-blue shaded circle in the upper left of the card is the team's name in yellow lettering: "METS". Above the two framed photos on the card in orange lettering is the title "1968 Rookie Stars". The lettering matches the orange of the "NY" embroidered onto the players' caps. The back of this Topps rookie card gives career information and sports stats of the two players. It has a circle made to look like a baseball with the word and number "Topps 177" written inside.|

1968 Tops Nolan Ryan rookie
As long as the card is in a PSA holder with the PSA hologram on it and the case hasn't been tampered with ( if the inside is clear and doesn't have a milky tone it's the real deal) As for any other grading companies (SGC, Beckett) I'd stay away from them, there's just too many fakes and reprints on the market to trust anything else. I really like the new hologram that allows you to use your phone to look it up and see for yourself.
