I bought this book hoping to find great make at home body essentials (lotion, soap, washes, etc) from your basic grocery store items. But it's more in depth than that. Don't get me wrong there are a few (very few) recipes that you may have the ingredients already in your kitchen such as sugar scrubs with honey or an avacado mask. But most require essential oils, or wheat germ or some other items you would have to purchase from your local health food/supplement store that you couldn't just pick up from your everyday grocery store. It's a good book if you want to get away from chemicals & preservatives, but you will have some costs to go along with that to get started. Most of these recipes (especially masks) are good for 1 use which is the amount the recipe will make because since they do not contain perservatives they can't just sit around as they would mold, etc. The recipes I have made have been pretty good & I have gotten good results with cleansers & masks. I've had about 2 or 3 where the smell or look just really turned me off, but most are very pleasent to smell. I think it's a good book overall if you are wanting to go a natural route, but don't count on finding these items in your kitchen already or even at your local grocery store.Read full review
Save tons of $$$ and look better too! A great book! I've made the basic cold cream, and orange/rose toner, deodorant and already see a big improvement in my skin. Will be getting the ingredients for the skin cream, lip balm and shampoo to try those as well. Even with purchasing supplies to make these items, I am still saving lots of money. But what truly matters is does it work? I'm happy to say that yes, it does work, and much better than the expensive department store brands I've used in the past.
After seeing this book at a store I purchased it through ebay at a fraction of the cost. It is a wonderful resource for natural body care. The chemicals that we put in our bodies on a daily basis are doing more harm than good, and I want to treat myself to the best. This book shows how to do just that. Easy mixtures that you can create right at home are presented here in a fun manner. Learn about everything from skin care, to natural hair care, feminine products, and MORE! If you get really good at these recipes you could even start your own business. Organic Body Care Recipes is a must have for anyone looking for natural ways to better themselves.
