Feature rich like getting a compact camera with hi zoom with wifi internet google mini-tablet. Pros: sturdy built, highly functional, good pix quality, can do everything on wifi as smartphone (Android based), nice screen, easy to use. Cons: few times photos came out white washed with flash, pix not as high qual as expected from Nikon but still good, screen is a little small for my fingers and eyes. Neutrals: no phone or data (this is not a smart phone), battery life good but it is proprietary (get backup batt off ebay), has hdmi but not sure how best to use it since I have many other alternatives (tablets, wii, roku...), for me operation functions logically and easily but it may be confusing to others. Finally, the big Pro is its value for a compact camera is excellent then add in the internet capability and it is terrific.Read full review
When this camera was first introduced many buyers complained of issues with WiFi connectivity and a couple other issues. Since its launch, Nikon has updated the firmware three times (they are now on v. 1.3). Most issues that ultimately drove the price of this camera way down in the market have now been fixed. Although, I have encountered a couple hesitant start-ups. So, if you can get this camera at a really good price, do it. When you get it, before you even take a photo, update the firmware to version 1.3. Also, turn off background updates to lengthen battery life. Even after that battery life is not great. So buy a couple extra batteries. There are 1500 MAH versions for sale on eBay. That gives you a little better life than Nikon's own 1050 MAH.
This is my second Nikon COOLPIX S8000c the first one I dropped while walking my dog, my fault but I liked it so much I had to replace it....PROs Picture quality is usually awesome, batteries will give you an afternoon but I carry an extra, the wifi is cool for sharing...CONs Has frozen on me a few times, changing battery usually solves this, their is too much glare outside to use veiwscreen....sometimes lens will open while on Standby and if it in your pocket it will seem awkward... good camera for what I paid...$60 for the one I dropped and $55 for the E-bay one...Yes I would buy a third.
I love the features of this camera! It's easy to use and I love being able to SYNC the photos from the camera directly to my smart phone.
Takes good pictures, as other have said battery life is short in some functions. My biggest complaint is that I cannot listen to my music on it. I have bought their recommended SD card, formatted it, copied my music on to it, tried several other SD micro's, etc., and none of them have worked. All of the SD/SDMicro's have worked with other options such as Samsung Galaxy phones, and my computer.
