I was initially prettyexcited about getting this game. Although I cannot honestly say its a bad game; I cannot tell you its that great either. You can play as either Shrek, Fiona, Donkey or The Gingerbread Man, depending on which character you select during the game. You can switch back and forth by using the right trigger switch on the gamepad. You progress through the game by performing different tasks such as collecting eyeballs for lunch on your journey, catching forest fairies, fighting Robin Hood and his band of merry men, etc. It's sort of part action, part adventure. All in all, it tends to get rather tedious and boring after a while. Especially since there are mini-adventures within each level, and you have to complete the entire level to consider it finished. If you don't, then when you save your game, you have to start all over again. I have to admit the graphics, music and charachter comments are pretty amusing, but they do tend to get a bit boring after a while.Read full review
This is a really good game for all ages of players, I say players because you must have a good skill level to reach your goals. Overall I liked it but I really bought it for my 2 great grandson's and they really like it but they do have trouble with handling some items of the total make up of the game. They thought it was going to be a lot more like the movie then it really is but I guess it is as close as you can get going from movie to game format.
This game is very good for the whole family. My youngest is 3 years old and can play it. I even enjoy playing it with him. I do not like many games. But this one is both easy enough for the youngsters, and yet tricky enough for adults to get entertained. Simply put, it just allows you to spend time either by yourself or with your family in a calm, content manner. There is no yelling at the t.v., and no heart-racing "Oh my gosh! It's gonna kill me!" feelings that usually come with video games. Just a nice, pleasant game.
We bought it for a 6 yr old. GREAT graphics. PLAYERS WORK TOGETHER to proceed thru game ... teaching the 'value' in cooperation with others and 'teamwork' . If only one player ... COMPUTER PLAYS THE OTHER THREE (or remaining of the four) ... allowing the 'team' to still be in place. You can also switch back and forth between characters as needed (each character having unique abilities) GAME CONTAINS ... NO VIOLENCE ... NO 'INAPPROPRIATE' OR SUGGESTIVE MATERIAL ... JUST GOOD WHOLESOME ENTERTAINMENT WHILE TEACHING A MUCH NEEDED TRAIT FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE. We bought it simply because "Shrek" was 'kid-friendly' . HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME
The game is a lot of fun and the graphics are excellent. Some parts of the game are very challenging though. I play the game with my daughter and get some great father/daughter time on rainy days. I must admit that some of the parts of the game are quite challenging.
