Love this variable speed pump option. It had to be a pool pump that was compatible with my older Jandy Aqualink PDA RS Control System (had an old 2011’ 52 pin PCB board with only a single 4-pin red connector. Chipset was for PDA-PS8, 8273, version 5.0). I was replacing a Single Speed Jandy pump that finally quit after 16 yrs, and I didn’t want to pay for a professional installer to come and charge a $300 service charge to connect a few pipes and wires and then add on an extra “markup” for a new Jandy Pump. If I had purchased another “Jandy” pump, I would have had to go thru a local pool company/installer and payed a “Markup” on this dealer-sold pump from this middleman. However, Pentair IntelliFlo VS and Pentair IntelliFlo VF are supposed to be backwards compatible with the older Jandy Aqualink Systems, because Pentair came out with the first variable speed pumps... long before Jandy. So, I got a new variable speed pump that I can control completely from my old year 2011’ Aqualink System without a major upgrade to a New Aqualink 50 pin board. Saved me about $1,000 on board upgrade and $300 on service charge and $—-.—? whatever the “markup” would have been on Jandy pump... probably pretty significant. The only downside I had to consider was that the newer boards would have allow me to control my pool with my Smart Phone. The older boards do not allow this ability... that’s the downside. But, I am satisfied controlling the whole system thru my original Jandy Palm Held Digital Device (PDA) and don’t think it’s worth an extra $1,000 just to be able to use my smart phone instead of the PDA. They are both handheld, both can be easily carried, and both are easy to program. Consider this option if you’re in a similar situation and are handy enough to do the work safely on your own. If you don’t really know what you’re doing around electricity, then please don’t try to do this on your own, as the voltages you will be dealing with are likely 220-240. Good luck!Read full review

Bought this based on the reviews and the reviews did not disappoint. Working flawlessly. You do need to program the unit and I run it for 1.5 hours at 3450 rpms to get the most out of my Polaris. Then I'm running the pump at 450 rpms most of the day to make sure I'm getting 2 turnovers of water for the day. (Less over winter or more depending on how much the kids use it). Already noticed a decrease in my elect bill so I figure it should pay for itself in about a year and a half. I hope it lasts at least 10 years to make me feel like I got good value out of it. Time will tell. Do yourself a favor and check out a few videos on utube to learn how to program this pump before you install it so you're not wasting your time trying to figure it all out.

Easy to set up and program, the Pentair Intelliflo operates flawlessly and quietly. The variable speed feature allows you to clean your pool at higher speeds for a short duration, and circulate the water at much slower speeds for the bulk of the time. The net effect is much less power consumption with much lower electric bills.

NIB everything as described quick delivery. Pump is powerful, I replaced two 1-1/2hp pumps with this one pump. And it keeps up with salt chlorinator on three returns and a slide at 3/4 throttle using less electricity. Couldn't be happier than with this choice, so far.

My old pump was not broken but it was noisy and the Barracuda pool cleaner made a noise like bump bump bump to be heard all over the inside of my house so I decided to purchase the Pentair IntelliFlo VS-3050 variable 3 speed pump. It was actually cheaper to buy it on Ebay as there was no tax. When I had my pool guy install it luckily I already had 220 volt to hook it up to so prepare for that expense for that if you don't. So far after about two months of use these are my pros and cons. Pros, 1.on the slowest speed I cannot hear the pump when it turns on. 2. My barracuda has enough power to run without a sound.3.The built in digital controls allows me to set the pump to run from 8 AM to 11 AM shut off then turn on again at 5 PM and allow me to sit out by the pool and listen to my waterfall while I relax with a glass of wine. At 8PM it shuts off. Just a wonderful product. Like going from a Volkswagen to a Bentley. CONS: Price but you get what you pay for.Read full review
