Released in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the hugely influential Nintendo Entertainment System console (which first appeared in Japan as the Famicom, in 1984), the "Classic NES Series" of Game Boy Advance cartridges present accurate versions of original NES games, for play on the handheld. In the year "20X5," a dangerous new life form is discovered on the desolate "Planet SR388." Before research scientists can safely bring it back for study, it is stolen by a group of space pirates. This life form, named Metroid, could make a deadly biological weapon if used improperly. After several unsuccessful attempts to infiltrate the pirates' headquarters themselves, the Galaxy Federation send Samus Aran, one of the galaxy's best bounty hunters. Armed with cybernetic armor and an arm-mounted laser rifle, Samus is charged with the task of navigating the maze-like corridors of the base and destroying Mother Brain, the pirates' leader. |

Portable version of the nes original with a password save state.
Original nes game but portable. The password is still used but it will save the last password so you can start the game up with all items you had without manually typing in the password every time so that's a plus. The game has slowdown issues like the original but I figured with the better processor in the GBA,DS,etc. would solve this but it doesn't. The game also seems to have a small issue with the background/walls changing color a little bit when jumping, not a big deal but noticeable. It seems the game's enemies don't cheap shot you as much when going through doors and it appears the doors close faster behind you after entering, both are good things. Buy it & enjoy it like you did years decades ago.
It's easy to see why this game is so well received. It's fantastic!
I never played the original metroid on the NES, but I am extremely glad I've been given the opportunity to play it on the Game Boy Advance. It's truly one of the most difficult games I've ever played, and after a while of playing, you start to learn to familiarize yourself with the different rooms and passages. Some enemies I was barely able to combat without dying eventually become very familiar and much easier with strategy, practice, and upgrading your weapons and energy of course. I'm also really glad it has the sleep mode option (which the game boy systems don't automatically do when closed) since I often have to keep trying difficult areas repeatedly and entering the password in order to continue your game progress. Beautiful music and great creature designs.
Nostalgia
First, it is a near first emulation of the original. There's might be some slight glitches and some subtle noticeable delays in the controls. It is a very hard game. There are no save points. You do not get to respawn with full health. No matter how many energy tanks you have, you spawn with 30 pts and at the last area (not room) entrance. Maneuvering through the shafts is tedious. Collecting health points is tedious. You will most likely take on more damage than you gain if you go right for the strategy of killing and collects health points. Can not shoot down or kneel to shoot, so you cannot hit anything below the chest. take it as a challenge and expertise in dodging enemies.
Classic Nes Series Metroid
This is a classic metroid game.I'm old school so i like the classic games. Fun to play on my Gba ags 101. Would recommend to all Metroid fans

Bad choice...
Bad choice here Nintendo. The Classic Series Metroid for the GBA is the NES game. Thats it. If you have a GBA I suggest getting Zero Mission instead and just unlocking this game. You can also unlock it from the Fusion-Prime hookup on the Gamecube. If you have an NES theres no point in this game uless you're a collector. The game is sheer perfection but being chosen for the NES Classics was not. Get Zero Mission, Prime & Fusion, or an NES because if you're a Metroid gamer you most likely have at least one already.
