Purchased a small carton last year (didn't look at amount closely for size of lawn) and this year had a very substantially less year number of them. To provide other information, I also used nematodes last year but the weather was so dry unsure how useful (nematodes apparently need moist soil), and nematodes don't survive the cold winter. Regardless, this year had WAY less of the japanese beetles so decided to spread a larger amount of the milky spore and then should be done for a while (milky spore survives cold and live in Maine). It worked for me last year, and found out about it because worked really well for a friend who had a japanese beetle problem prior to using milky spore. Yes, I would recommend. Be aware it says not to use a spreader (such as might use for lime or fertilizer), but instead a spoon or specially made spore spreader.Read full review

I was told by a local lawn and nursery business that this would get rid of grubs and that moles would then leave because they have nothing to eat. NOT true regarding moles! I then called the supplier about the product and was told that it is not to deter moles, but will get the grubs. That remains to be seen as I still have a large number of insects flying just above the ground like the japanese beetles did before applying the milky spore. It may work for the beetles for next year, but I see no results this season or to deter moles.

I don't know how or if the product works, as I've never applied it before. My only hope is that it will kill the grubs and keep the armadillos and skunks from digging up my yard. I only applied one box around my house, but I may have to do more at another time. This is the first year that Japanese beetles have attacked my 3 year old rose bush. Time will tell. I really don't know how I could recommend it or tell if it is of good quality until next year. I really don't know if it is an excellent product. I suppose that St. Gabriel is the only manufacturer of this product. I do know that after much research, the best value was on eBay. If I change my mind, perhaps I can do another rating or change this one.

The powder is easy to apply and once absorbed into the soil works for about 10 years killing grubs. We made an applicator using an old tin coffee can with holes drilled into the bottom and attached it to an old broom handle. Fill with the powder and tap the ground, every 4 feet, in a checker board manner.
