I have had mine for over 8 years now and this is my favorite digital camera. I also shoot film with both screw mount and Leica M cameras so I know cameras. This is my favorite camera to take on hikes as it is light and sharp and does not break when it falls. Mine has many dents but keeps going. It is also sealed well from the weather. I do allot of caving and it has been wet many times but never stopped working. I was so surprised. Of course I did not have it in the Dave street long but any other standard Camera definitely given up with the treatment this Camera has received. It is my favorite for this reason. I now have two the other is the D-Lux 5 and this one only has the advantage of a longer zoom. Imagine these cameras have a number of aspherical lens and multiple groups. Definitely the best of the P/S Cameras bar none. I am never without mine and many times it has surprised me with the battery life. Of course I carry an extra but seldom have to use it. When purchased I had many in the Leica Club here in Korea recommend it as a back up for my M8 and later M240. Then I realized that I used it a great deal more because it is small, light, tough, and has a sharp lens. Also the memory card is easy to load onto my iPad and computer. One memory card holds over 1000 pictures. That will last me a month whereas I used to fill one in a few days. Yes I am into photography and have exhibited pictures from this camera. It is highly recommended and at the prices now that it goes for it is a real steal. After all these years I finally had the detector cleaned. My other digital cameras I must hav them cleaned every few weeks. People said it could not be cleaned but it can be. Just you do not need to do it very often partially because the lens is not changed. If you want a small camera with features that the big boys (and expensive too) cameras use at a fraction of a price go for it!Read full review

The lens and sensor on this camera are phenomenal. For the price, either used or new, there is no better compact camera in my humble opinion. The resolution, clarity, color rendition, and the wide-angle depth-of-field are on par with full-bodied high-end cameras. It produces beautiful pictures in existing light, without flash, in 80% of situations. This is my 2nd one. The first one, bought new in 2009, got crushed under my car's power seat accidentally, and I was lucky enough to replace it with one thru eBay. I strongly recommend it. It is not your average cheap plastic camera!

First of all you have to read the manual. It is compact, light weight, not easy to use, but once you get how to use it gives you freedom to select how o what kind of picture you would like to take. The menu is a little difficult because you have many options due the different options to capture a picture. Some times you get confused on depressing the right buttom. It is between a point and shot and a DSRL. One of the features I like it is the option to choose between Aperture priority, Shutter priority or use the camera on Manual mode (this is for the persons who really like to experience what is to take a photography) The menu sometimes get you lost, it is a matter of time and practice to understand where to go in case you need to achieve an adjusment. You have to understand that is not like the Leica M series that are for the photographers that love to work with range finder cameras. Quality of the images is very good, the way that the tones or colors are capture is almost excellent. As an almost professional camera helps you in case you are short of time or freedom to capture something on the camera.Read full review
This was to be my standby for when I don’t want to take my full-size M10. I pretty much carry it all the time when I’m on my motorcycle and it’s just great in both auto and manual modes. I added some accessories to mine but it’s just fine stock. I highly recommend this D-Lux to any amateur photographer.

Thus camera (and it's Lumix LX3 sister) is one if the best buy's on the used point and shoot market. It is compact, focuses quickly and the Leica lens is simply amazing - especially in macro mode. I own a Nikon D7100, a Lumix LX100 and this is my favorite - the one I grab when leaving the house.
