Gonset Model G-66B Receiver
This is a very attractive radio and was manufactured with the quality that Gonset was known for. My receiver still needs to be renovated. Most caps are in need of replacement and a good tune up is needed. It functions but needs work. The antenna connection is a car radio Motorola connector. I have never liked these and may change it to a BNC. If I can, I will built an adapter from one to the other so that I can keep the radio as functional as I can without modifying it too much. Also, the antenna connector is on the side of the radio, which isn't very convenient. The front panel really sticks out from the browns, greys, creams and blacks of my other vintage equipment. For the time of manufacture, this radio is small, comparable to my Morrow mobile receiver. It won't fit too well in the typical car of today although it fits nicely in the shack. The power supply is separate and will run on 120VAC or 12VDC (possibly 6VDC). It connects to the radio through an 8 pin octal connector. The power supply will plug directly into the receiver without a cable although I think a better method would be to use a short cable to prevent damage to the connectors. The radio and power supply combination is quite deep when put together. All in all, this is a very nice addition to my collection.
