I think that most people miss the point on this movie. Yes, it is a great action film with great fight scenes. Yes, Brad Pitt is a really good bad guy. Yes, The music is great. Yes, the apocalyptic regime known as "Project Mayhem" is led by an anarchistic genius. The point of this movie is that we as a society have grown so accustomed to being a part of the big picture that we forget to be individuals. Yeah, yeah; I am too analytical; whatever! "Generation X" followed the "ME Generation" and was followed by the "Why Generation". I am a member of Gen-X and I know that Gen-X was and is lost in mediocrity. This film will ring true always because of one simple fact; most people are sheep. Even the people who join the fight clubs and "Project Mayhem" are following someone else's lead. Don't you see it. Don't you understand the glaring, screaming point of this film - that most of us are just cogs in a big machine; but we can break away. I love this movie. I love the action. I love the dialogue, the acting, the direction, the editing, the music... But what I really love is the underlying truth that is layered throughout the film and brought to the surface without any pomp and circumstance. We are all desperate for something more, something to be a part of, something that will make us feel (pain, hate, love, anger, rage, emotions of every scale). This is a great film in every way, and Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham-Carter deserved, at the very least Oscar nods, but the film was too controversial, to gratuitously violent and destructive. The supporting cast, including a then unknown Jared Leto, Meatloaf (yeah, the singer) who shines, and several other familiar faces, was phenomenal. As a hollywood blockbuster, this film had it all. But, more importantly it had something deeper. You can disagree with me if you are not the "artsy-fartsy" type (like me), but the truth remains the same, this film had a point, made the point and took no prisoners along the way. So, live a little, and watch this movie. Then go out and make something of yourself. Even if you don't get to beat the crap out of someone for fun.Read full review
A wonderful film that can keep you guessing at times, the characters are quirky and it is fun to watch them interact. One guy is on a quest for self realization, but as in all wishes or quests, one needs to be careful what it is that one asks for. The other character is everything the first guy is not, their relationship takes on new dimensions almost moment by moment, and they wind up in many interesting situations. I don't want to give spoilers to the plot, so sorry if this is super vague; just watch the film and you too should become a fan.

I've seen "Fight Club" several times and is probably one of my top 5 favorite films. It has everything I love: dark comedy, satire, surrealism, a shocking revelation towards the end, and all-around head trip! It's very re-watchable, one of those films where the viewer will notice something new & revealing each time. I saw it at least twice before I noticed the comedic aspect, and knowing what's going to happen makes it that much more enjoyable! Glad I finally got around to buying it!

***MINIMAL SPOILERS*** Edward Norton starts the movie by being the Narrator, telling the events in this episode of the mind going in a most twisted direction. He is so dumbed-down by his meager existence, he begins to make an obsessive hobby out of going to as many Support Groups he can sign up for, eventually setting his life's schedule around the meetings. he meets up with Marla Singer( Helen Bonham Carter), who throws several curveballs at him. On a plane trip for business, he meets Tyler Durden( Brad Pitt). Durden teaches Norton how to make soap out of rejected body waste from a liposuction clinic, then re-sells that soap right back at the large-bottomed( not how he says it in the movie) women. Also the by-product is a powerful explosive that can be used for "other purposes". The diversion from this soap business is the "Fight Club", where people join up just to fight each other; chapters spring up all over the USA. This great movie is ranked # 10 in the Top 250 movies of all-time on IMDB. Check it out.Read full review
What do I like about this movie? The cast is amazing - every role is filled by an actor that fits it like a glove - Norton, Pitt, support cast - all great! The story is solid - as you've already read, there is an unexpected (yet very awesome) twist at the end. You're also not left confused, which can be a big problem in movies of this nature - the movie does a great job of recapping and leaving the viewer in awe. Even the soundtrack is good! What didn't I like? Honestly, I only feel the movie could be improved if they had made it a little bit longer and added a few more complex events (if you know what the twist is, you should know what I mean). I feel it would help to drive the point home, and make the viewer even more intrigued. Keep in mind: The language, violence, and sexual content of this movie are why it is rated R, not the best for young'ins. Not the best date movie in the world either. Awesome movie to watch with a group of buddies - don't try it at home. ;) *I have published the same review under multiple items due to the similar nature of the products-in this case the movie content between various DVD versions.Read full review
