It is EXACTLY what I was hoping to find. I feel fortunate to have this Bass. As the auction closed, it initially said I had been outbid on my last offer. Five seconds later, the green stripe appeared informing me I had won the auction. Never has happened like that before or since. Meant to be!

The EMG pickups are Johnson EMG's. Which were licenced out to Johnson guitars. Kind of a stretch just saying they are EMG's. The screwheads to raise and lower the pickups are stripped, so this presented an unexpected hassle. Tone pot crackles. Neck is great and setup is nice. Strings needed immediate changing. Bass plays fine .

The one I bought had flat wound black strings and sounded excellent. I have an original fender 74 PBass and the MiM unit sounded much better. Could be the strings or rosewood vrs maple. I have a Lollar Pickup to put in and that might help even more. Wow -it’s perfect for 60s rock and soul music.

I was going to refrett and recondition my '72 P Bass, but my friend told me to hang it up and buy one of these instead because for the same money, et a lighter weight new one that sounds and plays better. It does.
