I couldn't be more pleased.
The EJ-2000CE has been a real surprise. I was looking for an inexpensive guitar to haul around and not put my higher enf Alvarez and Martin at risk of travel injury. The Epi has become my number one acoustic guitar. It is stunningly beautiful to look at. I bought the black one and my friends and I are overwhelmed with the look. The fit and finish are as good as any "American" competitor at one tenth the cost. The tuners are excellent and the guitar stays in tune. It has a subdued, yet rich tone that is ideal to sing over. The action was perfect out of the box and regardless of what other reviewers have said, the strings are quite good. My only complaint would be the electronics. The on-board is difficult to read for those of us in the over age 45 demographic-in other words the letters denoting the notes are really small. The EJ I purchased came with no owners manual, and this has made the amplification system a bit challenging. The pickups are very sensitive, maybe too much so, especially for notes in the higher registers and I have really had to dial down the treble control on the guitar and my acoustic amp(Roland AC30). However, I did not buy the guitar for amplified performance, so this has not been a huge issue for me. If you are looking for a great sounding, beautiful guitar that has tone and will win accolades of praise from your fellow musicians, buy this baby. You can't go wrong.
This is an excellent guitar for the money!!!
I saw Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer play an Epi EJ200 in one of his videos on YouTube. I knew he usually used a Gibson J200 and I loved the sound, but there was no way I could afford one of those. But when I saw that he also used an Epi EJ200, I figured it wasn't going to hurt to try it. I couldn't have been more pleased with it when it got here. I bought mine new, so I did change out the strings with Martin lights, and played away. I have since then switched over to Gibson mediums and Elixir mediums and the difference is like night and day. If your finger tips can handle the medium strings, I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed by the fuller, richer tone of this guitar. The onboard electronics are very good also. So for those of you (like me) who can't afford a Gibson J200, the Epiphone EJ200 is the next best thing. Remember, Gibson manufactures Epiphones. I have watched videos where a Gibson and an Epiphone were played side by side and to be honest, I just couldn't tell that much of a difference in the sound.

Well, That's All Right Mama...
Nice cosmetics and electronics make this a great stage axe for Elvis-style pickin' and grinnin'. It feels a little stiff and clunky, but is very solidly built. I think the all-laminated woods, extra-large pickguard and thick-ish gloss finish kind of choke the really big boom you might expect from a guitar of this size, but she's a real looker. And did I mention the ELECTRONICS? lots of output and tone-ability from the mag AND piezo (with blend control), and can I get an amen for the tuner that mutes the output? Listen to Darrel Higham on Jeff Beck's Rock'n'Roll Party dvd and you'll hear what I mean. Outstanding bang for the buck!
Bad first guitar
I first ordered a blemished guitar and it looked beautiful! But then I plugged it and I was devastated, the guitar I dreamt about for for years didn’t work! The rear pickup didn’t work. The box was open but they didn’t even check it. They didn’t even offer me a discount on a new one. Weeks later I finally bought new one and it does work. Nice guitar for the money but not worth the heartache. In future I would be hesitant to buy open box, blemished. Apparently blemished can be more than cosmetic, which they should state.

One of the best buys I have made on eBay and I have bought more than 200.
I can't even use the positive expletives to describe how incredible this guitar is. I spent about twenty minutes restringing with my choice of strings, and a quick set up, and this guitar played and sounded alot like my $2,000.00+ guitars. The guy I bought his from was crazy for letting it go. Epiphone makes one of the best inexpensive instruments one can buy. Totally thrilled!!
