I needed the 2" depth of the vice jaws to hold a Holley Model G carburetor for drilling out the choke shaft holes, which were out of round. The smaller vices did not have the depth of the 8 inch. It seems to run smoothly enough, though the threaded rods do hop a little. I suspect tighter bushings would cure this. The cranks are numbered so one know how much the work piece has been moved. If doing some fine work. =It is made in China if that concerns you.
