|Game Name:||Dragon Warrior||Rating:||E-Everyone|
|Genre:||Role Playing, Role Playing, Role Playing|
|Dragon Warrior for the NES was initially released as Dragon Quest for the Famicom in Japan. However, this name change wasn't the only thing different about this NES game. Developer Chunsoft and publisher Enix made a few additional changes to this historic RPG series. The story is the same in the two titles, though. After the hero Erdrick is defeated and the Orb of Light lost, darkness descends upon the land. The evil Dragonlord rules the world with an iron fist, and his monsters are terrorizing characters everywhere. The good King Lorik of Tantegel Castle charges you and defeats the evil lord as well as rescues the kidnapped princess. Dragon Warrior for the NES is a unique role-playing game, as it's incredibly open-ended. If the player wanted to, he or she could directly challenge the Dragonlord right away by storming his castle. However, the further from Tantegel Castle you get, the stronger the enemies become. You'll need to complete quests and battle monsters to gain experience. Once you reach a certain level of experience, you'll increase your level, gaining more health points, magic points, and attack power. Dragon Warrior, formerly Dragon Quest, is also unique in that the name you select at the beginning of the game dictates how you level up. The combination of characters used when creating your name lets the game know what ability scores to assign. There are even some name combinations that completely remove the enemies from the game.Your hero has no party members to accompany him; he only relies on his own abilities to complete his mission. This adds an extra layer of challenge to the game as you'll often face off against multiple opponents at once. You'll explore the world map using a top-down view. You can talk to townsfolk and search for items in your vicinity in this view. Combat in Dragon Warrior for the NES is a turn-based combat system. When in combat, the viewpoint switches to a first-person mode. In this view, you'll be looking directly through the eyes of your character at the fearsome foes in front of you. These monsters range from Slimes and Wolfmen to dragons and creatures made of stone. After you select your command, combat begins. After both you and your enemies attack, a new round begins. Combat is over after you slay all your opponents or you fall in combat. If a battle is too difficult, you can run away. You can save your game directly to the cart in this version of the Nintendo title. The main character's movements were also made easier in the U.S. version of the game.Dragon Warrior for the NES features an all-star cast of developers at its helm. The RPG game design was by Yuji Horii. The design of every monster is the work of Akira Toriyama. Last but not least, Koichi Sugiyama composed all of the music you hear in the video game. Dragon Warrior for the Nintendo Entertainment System launched a role-playing game franchise of over 10 video games. This title is one RPG adventure that every gamer needs to play at least once on their NES console.|

Great Classic RPG
Dragon Warrior is a great NES RPG, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes RPGs. Compared to today’s games, Dragon Warrior is very simple; you roam around the world map gaining experience, and earning gold to buy new weapons and armor. You will also have to enter dungeons, which is when the strong armor and weapons come in handy. All of the battles are turn based and are generally fun but can sometimes get annoying and repetitive. The in-battle graphics are surprisingly good; the enemies are very well animated. The world is actually fun to explore and the story is interesting. I also think that the music is fairly good as well. The only thing that I found to be extremely annoying about this game is that whenever you wanted to talk to someone or go down a flight of stairs, you have to press A and then select “talk” from a menu which was kind of a pain. Other than that, Dragon Warrior is an excellent, classic RPG. Pros: - Great classic RPG. Cons: - Can get repetitive.
Game from the past.
I really enjoyed this game .Especially when I hesitated,thinking up questions the princess would ask"Would you spank my tushy,until it was cherry red?"She'll keeping asking until the hero says yes.Plus like hideous drapes,take me to Disneyland,etc.Told you,I had fun with this game.That is why bought it.Oh,the role playing was fun too.

One of the key early entries in the Glorantha library
This is one of the key, early products with details on Glorantha. If you're like me and love the early stuff, you'll enjoy this one. Sure, it's all covered in the mega two-volume set that was recently released, but these early products have their own charm. Plus, I don't risk pulling a muscle every time I take it off the shelf! Worth having for the Glorantha fan (along with its companion volume, Cults of Prax).

Get this game!
Wow, where do I start? First of all I believe this is the best Dragon Warrior on the nes. The other Dw's in my opinon have too many characters to look after. You and only you are against everyone in this version. I saw a review about too many leveling ups. Common now that's one of the best parts of this game. You have to kill and kill and kill somemore before you become elite. This game is awesome, in my opinion the best RPG on the nes. The graphics are tite and old school. Even the cover on the game features A knight battling against a dragon in a epic art piece. You can change the message speed to fast so the game breezes by and unlike other boring nes rpgs you have to use skill to get treasure chests. Sometimes you have to put that wyveryn to sleep to keep attacking and sometimes it'll wake up and kill you :) The music is sweet especially in the dungeons. I love saving up the gold you get and you'll need every piece to buy enough weapons and armour to keep you alive. I've beat this game years ago and even today I want to keep playing and play you will. Don't be surprised if you miss a few days of work because this game is more addicting that smoking. Buy this game now while it's still cheap before others realize this is the best one of all the dragon warriors.
