|Crash Bandicoot is the first game in Naughty Dog's popular series and follows the titular character as he attempts to defeat mad scientist Dr. Neo Cortex and rescue his girlfriend Tawna. The controls are relatively simple, allowing you to guide Crash as he jumps and whirls through the game's three islands. Defeat enemies by spinning past them or by landing on them after jumping, and make it through each stage without dying in order to unlock the next challenging level. The game contains 33 levels, which are divided between the three islands, as well as hidden areas that must be unlocked by collecting gems.|

The original Crash Bandicoot, 15 years later
I bought this game for my wife who admittedly, doesn't really game, but she remembered playing it in her college years and wanted to find it again for nostalgia's sake. The game is still a classic and plays great, though it exposed a flaw in my Playstation 2 console. When the laser that reads discs starts going out, it won't read the old/early games that were dark blue/black/purple on the bottom. Had to get a new console due to that fact. The only reason I didn't give it an Excellent is due to graphics. Not really the fault of the game but after 15 years and seen on an HDTV, the graphics for PS1 (and even a lot of PS2) games just don't hold up. Overall we were happy with it though. My wife has enjoyed playing it with the kids and I get a kick out of watching.
Be Patient when playing this game.
The one complaint that I have with the first crash compared to all of the other Crash Bandicoot's that I have played is that you can't save the game until you get 3 of his girlfriends then you have to complete the bonus round to be able to save to that point. When you get to the harder levels sometimes you have to go back 3 or 4 levels prior to being able to save it. We do enjoy playing the game, that is our only complaint. We started out with Crash Bandicoot Warped, then went to Crash Bandicoot 2. So I would say that if started at the first Crash Bandicoot and found out we couldn't save it until then, we probably wouldn't of got the other ones. On 2 and Warped you can go out and save your game immediately following a level. Also on the first Crash you see your memory card details, and my 5 year old daughter has erased other games like Pac Man, etc. because she saves Crash where she wants to and it over writes on the card, so you have lost your saved game from another game.
IT GROWS ON YA!
the game was very fun and challenging, espeshully at a young age. the graphics I think they did relly good for one of the first ps games made. I know it sounded almost completely in a video game and it was a fantasy realism so it was as realistic as they could get then. I don't think there were many things to unlock at all exept more skill and a lot of hand eye cordination! the storyline was confrajulistick and it was also very long and took patience and quick thinking.I loved this game and so did everyone else in the household. It had four mountains to go through each with about 15 levels and as you go on there is onecboss on the first mountain, two on the second, two on the third and three on four, one of which is cortex the last boss.
Crash Bandicoot (PS)
The very first Crash Bandicoot game... So many memories with this title. It's very addicting with its numerous collectable items within the various levels (over 30 levels spanning 3 islands). I remember that this Crash Bandicoot game was the most challenging of the series of original Crash games on the Playstation, but that only made it that much more fun. The feeling of success after completing a level and earning a gem was worth the effort. The game is still a classic to this very day. 3D platforming at its greatest in my opinion. It's simple, but not overly simple. Anyone can play this.
A Must Have Classic For PS1!!!!!!!!!!
I used to own this game years ago, but I had to sell it! This is the first game in the Crash Bandicoot Series. This game has some difficult parts to it, but with some patience and practice, the game can be progessed through! This game has no inappropriate language so kids and adults will have hours of fun! In my opinion, Crash Bandicoot has to be in the top ten as one of the best playstation 1 games of all time! There will be no disappointment when playing this game!!!!
