I am a martial arts aficionado, I am well-versed in many styles of self-defense, at first I found this thing to be unwieldy and awkward but with a small amount of work I figured out how to make it into a very effective defensive tool. Not to mention it's also a Walkingstick and it was nice just to lean on it when my knee got tired :-) I would recommend this for a larger size person there are different sizes and models to suit your needs.

not true to size. mine measures 38 & 5/16" in length. a full inch and a quarter plus longer than described, which does make a difference for my intended use. from tip to knot the entire cane is way too thick and really, other than being black, hardly resembles the real thing. no staubs left, no crook or character, come on. the effort is notable, and oh yea, it's a formidable weapon in my hands. just wish it was shorter, thinner and a little lighter. jab twice in the groin with tip, then follow with kneecap or ankle swipe.

For some reason, mine stinks. And not just a little. The Oder makes me gag. Makes my hands smell if I handle it. Next, it is too heavy and to fat to carry with any ease. And that stupid cheap ball head cover is ridiculous and popped off when the cane fell over. So I ended up cutting down the head to a somewhat natural looking blackthorn. Another issue with this heavy monstrosity, how in the world could this ever be considered a defense cane? I guess the makers figure you can swing it like a bat to fend off attacker’s. Anyway this was a bad purchase for me.

This is a big, heavy cane. It has a large knob at the top suited for bigger hands. If you are slight in stature this likely is not the cane for you. It is very strong, I like to say "big buildings need a big foundation and you do not send a twig to do a branches job". It was a bit to long for me so I simply used a hacksaw and cut it to the proper length. I then added an 1 1/8 inch rubber cap to the tip. If you do not need to cut it you can use a 1 inch rubber cap. Personally I like the weight of it. Heavier then a standard cane but would be good if you needed it to defend yourself with.
