In my opinion, Bioshock 2 is the best one in the series. Greatly improves and optimises all the gameplay elements from the first Bioshock. Has the strong emotional and solid writing from Infinite - without getting lost up its own a$$. Shows you a side of rapture which feels fresh enough to distinguish itself from the first one. The only downside to Bioshock 2 is that I cannot recommend it without first playing, or having some good knowledge on Bioshock 1 - the way Bioshock 2 is written feels like it takes for granted that the player has played the first one, unlike Infinite that can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. Personal opinion - that does not count for the review, Bioshock 2 is definitely in my top 10 FPS games list.

I few months ago i had bought the original Bioshock and fell in love with it. My friends had told me that Bioshock 2 was even better than the first. I was a bit skeptical. I had bad experiences with sequels, like Supreme Commander 2 and who could forget the epic fail that was Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2? But Bioshock 2 met and even exceeded my expectations. We'll just cover the single player mode. The intro movie was great at showing the player the bond between the Big daddy and the Little Sister, and i was shocked when Delta(you) committed suicide right in front of the girl who thought of you as her daddy. I also liked how you had the option of killing 3 people who had tried to kill you or had made you into a Big Daddy.Near the end got emotional when you were force to kill the man who helped you survive most of the game. The original splicers were in the game ( i didn't find any nitro-splicers) with the addition of the Brutes. Two types of Big Daddy were also added, the grenade launching Rumbler and the Alpha Series, of which you are. The Bouncers and the Rosies are also present, but i seemed to have run into more rumbers than any other type. My favorite(and most hated) aspect of the game was your interaction with the Little sisters. you had to first kill her big dady, and either adopt her or harvest her. If you adopt her, you get to carry her around on your back and go searching for ADAM. Sure this sounds easy, but once you set a little sister down on a corpse to gather ADAM, an unrelenting wave of splicers come in. They will keep coming until the little sister finishes the gather. if you die, the gather stops and you have to pick up your little sister again and try to gather ADAM again. Once i had waves of splicers coming down on me with a rumbler supporting them; there was no good cover there either. Each little sister can only gather twice before you have to bring them to a vent, where you have the choice of harvesting her or saving her. It works like the first game, but i personally think you get less gifts if you save them. Whatever you decide to do, at irregular vent visits, the game's final enemy type shows up. the Big sister is a little sister that hit puberty and is mighty pissed off at you. They are extremely hard to kill and can use plasmids. Useful gameplay options are that you can wield both weopons and plasmids at the same time. The camera from the first game was turned into a video camera that rates you on how you "take care of" an enemy. you get more research points the more creative you are at killing it. Another fun upgrade is that you can use melee with any weapon, not just your drill, which is the first weapon you get in the game. A story feature that i like is that in the endgame, you get to see Rapture through the eyes of a little sister. A part i didn't like at the end was the objective there was the same as the "become the big daddy" quest you had in the first game, except with big sister armor. Besides the repetitiveness of the endgame,Bioshock 2 is a must play for anyone with a stomach that can handle the violence level of the game.Read full review
