Good image quality
Good value
Well designed
A budget monitor with a LOT of good features.
The monitor arrived well very well packed. It is a "refurbished" unit, but I could find no signs of prior use--not even a fingerprint. The carton included a 120v power cable and a VGA cable but no documentation. However, a sticker on the outside of the carton advised me where to find an online manual. Some assembly is required, but no tools are needed. The base attaches to the pedestal with one thumbscrew, and the pedestal snaps into a socket on the back of the monitor bayonet-style. The 3 pieces are very solid & sturdy. The assembled monitor is rather heavy and seems very sturdy. It's not a bad looking monitor. It's all black with a matte finish--very neat & minimalist. The controls are mounted under the bottom edge and are hard to see, but easy to feel. Far right button is on & off, far left button opens the menu. Middle buttons are for navigating the menu. Navigation is simple and I didn't need to download any instructions. The monitor is equipped with a VGA port, a DVI port, and an HDMI port. That's a pretty nice feature for a budget monitor. I opted for HDMI. Windows 10 and Linux both detected and ran the monitor without any issues and without the need for any special drivers. Image quality is quite nice and the colors seem very balanced and natural. My impression is that the engineers were going for true-to-life hue and saturation. I viewed some family photos (JPG), a couple of home movies (MP4), and several YouTube videos. Picture quality is satisfactory in all cases. I also used it for several hours of "telework" (thanks to covid) and found the monitor very comfortable to use with Microsoft Office. I'm not a gamer so I can't speak to that. The Benq has an expansive menu for picture quality adjustments--unusual for a cheap monitor. A partial list of settings includes: standard, low blue light, color weakness (red & green), movie, game, photo, sRGB, bright intelligence, and sharpness. RGB levels can be adjusted individually. I left everything at the factory defaults. My only complaint is the integrated speakers. They are too quiet to be useful. I don't know if this is a problem just with my monitor or if this is a normal Benq thing. I have no intention of ever using the internal speakers so this is not a deal-breaker for me. If you plan to use the integrated speakers, you should buy something else. To sum it up: Low cost, support for 3 different video standards, sturdy construction, good looks, great picture, simple controls, expansive menu, and weak speakers. This monitor is a lot of bang for the buck. Would definitely buy it again.
