Bought the little refurbished Mac because it has a CD drive. I needed a CD drive to install & use some old software. The Mac was nice enough but after I worked hours on installing my stuff - the battery wasn’t holding its charge. I pulled up the battery status bar and it showed that it needed to be replaced. I guess that a battery is not part of “refurbish” ??? I ended up buying a new battery & installing myself. It was a pain. I could return the Mac but after spending hours on the install.... I just couldn’t do it. I contacted the company thru EBAY about the battery issue ... They reimbursed me for the cost on my replacement battery. Overall I’m happy but I should not have had to do surgery.

The youngest MacbookPro is a Pro
I got this product as an outsider to Apple and Macbooks and when I did, I was quite worried since for the same price you can get notebooks that are lighter, equipped with better CPUs, faster and larger HDD's and so on. But I guess it takes a MacbookPro to learn that half of the Apple experience is related to build quality and style. And for that, this entry-level MacbookPro, launched with great components and best-deal price, is perfect. The LCD backlit TFT is not only responding instantly, but it's also covered with a thin glass layer as protection. The builtin webcam has a great wide-angle lens, great colors (for a webcam). The built-in microphone has perfect quality. All the inputs and outputs are ergonomically placed, the keyboard is backlit so that you can work in the dark without disturbing anyone else. Sure, the computing performance is good too, but he primary here is comfort while working and productivity, since a Mac user will likely be more concerned with productivity and enjoying multimedia aspects, rather than heavy-duty gaming. For this, the new MB990LLA rocks!
Most reasonably priced MacBook Pro 13
I think with this model, there is no need to buy the higher end 13 inch MBP. The processor clock speed is minimal and the hard drive and memory components can be upgraded easily with this computer. Overall, weight, battery life and construction quality is very good. The only complaint I have is the glossy screen, but I believe under the right light settings and some time getting used to it, it should be fine. Do note that all the ports are on one side (left side), and you will need a mini display port cable or adapter to connect this computer to an external monitor.
Awesome buy, currently typing this review on my Mac :) It feels like it could be a bit faster, tho. i will probably buy it a new SSD drive to improve its performance and memory. In conclusion i feel like i made the right choice!

Its an apple! What can I say?
Well my first apple was a powerbook, then I moved onto a macbook pro first gen, and then after that I upgraded to this wonderful computer! What can I say? Its an apple! Every upgrade has gotten better and better! Lets start with the screen... So there are lots of screens out there, and lots of great ones. I've had an HP that was just gorgeous. However, in my opinion, Apple displays trump them all! Even for a 13" screen, its a pleasure to work on! Movies display rich color, and its something I will never get tired of using. Speed... Well I have an HP running vista at 2.6ghz with 3gb of ram. Honestly, this computer runs faster than it does! HD rendering goes faster, faster startup, faster shut down, faster everything! THe operating system has become so seamless on mac computers, that it will outperform many "higher speed" pcs. That simply means that even with your small 13" computer runnning at 2.26GHz, the operating system takes less memory and less CPU, making more room for all of your other programs to run! Battery... I've been using it for a while, and I've gotten mixed results. Sometimes (with very light internet usage) I'll get around 6-7 hours on the battery, but other times (medium usage) I'll get around 3-4 hours on it. This is still great, just be aware that in order to get peak performance from your battery, you'll have to keep the screen low and do minimal work. For heavier work over a long period of time, you'll need an AC cord because your battery won't last 7 hours. Storage... Honestly, I upgraded my hard drive to a 320gb WD because the 160GB wasn't enough for me. It really depends on what you need. If you are just a casual computer user, the 160GB should be fine, but if you're looking to do video editing or plan on storing a lot of data, you might need to upgrade (its very simple, takes 5 minutes and probably around $50 or less). Ram... I've had no probably with the 2gb of ram for editing and dvd creation. Would I want more? Yes...you can never have too much ram! (ok maybe you can...but still...) I would want more, but I can't complain about the two...it suits me well! Keyboard and trackpad... I love this keyboard and the trackpad is GREAT!!! It may take a little getting used to for some people since there is no button, but one you DO get used to it, you'll never want to go back! Its like running an ipod touch with a huge screen! Its great! Other notes... The dvd drive works as it should, the ports all work, and the casing is awesome! Go unibody! If there is one thing I can nitpick on....the Magsafe charger. Oh don't get me wrong, it works and works well, but it's got a design flaw! If you have a case on the computer, you cannot face the Magsafe connector backwards (only the new ones) and therefore cannot use the ethernet port or the Firewire 800. I worked around this by taking off the back left piece of my case, but it is still a pain! If you have one of the older magsafe cords that stuck out perpendicular (remember your geometry everyone?) to the computer then you'll be perfectly fine. Honestly, there are ways to work around it, and its not impossible, but it can get complicated. Not a deal breaker for me, but a pain.
