Apple Time Capsule
I bought this one to replace my older 2 TB Apple Time Capsule which stopped working. I just plugged it in and setup was a breeze. Its antennae are higher in the unit which really helps get the signal better in the back of my house. I had intermittent problems with the older one. I feel like I made a good purchase of a product that works great.

Apple Time Capsule
Time Capsule backs up your files and lets you use it for storage space as well. Wifi is faster than my older router by a noticeable amount which is a bonus. However, there is no off switch so no soft powering down so get used to pulling the plug if you want it off for whatever reason. Other than that it works fine wired with Ethernet or wireless. If it starts kicking your wireless connection you just have to set a manual address for the Ethernet in network settings. If you're using it as your router however you're avoiding that possible problem which is the only issue I came across when testing the Ethernet cable. The backup process is faster with Ethernet so you should use that when making your first backup file....because wireless takes a lot longer(half a day for 250GB or more). All things considered it's working as designed and I'm happy with my purchase!

Very good for novice networkers - but be aware of its limitations.
For a non-computer person it is what it is - wifi-router w/time capsule backup for Mac computers and 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports. I can strongly recommend it, except in the following situation: it is not all things at once for Fios. I bought to use the 802.11ac wifi and the extra four Gigabit ports. When in "bridge mode" , as it must be behind the cable company router, the ethernet ports are not active. Only wifi and Time Capsule are working. The 10/100/1000 router will not work as a dumb switch, behind your router. Major drawback. I needed the extra ports! If you have a simple Ethernet port from your cable company, and can use any brand switch, this is not a problem. but FIOS is a bit more complicated that that. Generally speaking, it must use the Verizon modem. It is possible to split off the Ethernet from FIOS at the Junction box, but this requires technical self-training on the internet, special equipment, and costs that many do not have time for and/or aptitude. That is the bad news. The good news is the simple solution: For about $50 get a good, a/c plug internal power supply Ethernet Gigabit 8 port switch TP-Link TL-SG1008 is available. That will be seven Gigibit ports, one of which is the Time Capsule. Your internal network will then have hardwire and wifi speed.
Can't Go Wrong
I've used an original Time Capsule for six years. It didn't crap out, I just needed more data space. Sure there are more full featured devices on the market, but I wanted easy to set up, easy to use, easy to recover data—that's a Time Capsule.

Should've done this long time ago!
Long time ago I bought 2 WD external hard drives and they both crashed with my data! I couldn't recover anything! So I bought a second that I was told it was encrypted, safer, and reliable and after couple of back ups and 3 years later the damn thing shorted!!! Like WTF I paid about 300 for this because it was reliable and still broke down!!! All my data wasn't lost because it was in my master computer, so I decided to buy 3rd gen time capsule and omg best thing ever! After 4 years Still works like new, I ordered the 5th gen because I needed more storage and I know it's not going to let me down, this is a perfect case of quality vs quantity
