Even with its sleek and compact design, the Definitive Technology ProMonitor 1000 stereo speakers know how to throw a strong musical punch. These audio speakers have been constructed to have a curved shape, which gives them a unique appearance as well as helps to amplify sound. The box has a glossy-black finish with a foam-like grille. This sophisticated ProMonitor model has magnetic shielding and includes pure aluminum dome tweeters. Each speaker is about 1-inch wide so that you can gain the most from the treble emanated from that dome. The small yet powerful Definitive Technology tweeters reside on the front and top half of the speaker's construction.You'll also find planar pressure coupled mid-bass radiators to give you the pleasing sound quality that you want for a home theater system. Below the tweeter, you'll find one 5.25-inch cast basket bass/midrange driver. These 8-ohm impedance components are located underneath the tweeter and face outward toward the listener. The 5.25-inch pressure-driven planar low-frequency radiator faces uniquely upward towards the ceiling. This ProMonitor style is what gives the products their 90 dB sensitivity level. The ProMonitor satellites use the radiator and pressure-coupled driver combination to create high-definition audio with peak power handling of 200 watts.In addition, these speakers include an 80 Hz crossover setting that keeps signals from getting tangled together. All of these features are packed into a less than 11-inch tall frame that's perfect for bookshelf installation. You'll find a rubber bumper along the base of each satellite so that the speakers won't damage the surface you place them on. The bumper also provides stability. A 1/4-inch 20 threaded insert allows you to attach this pair of speakers to standard tripods. The stand is in the shape of a half-moon.The 47 Hz to 30 kHz frequency response gives you the freedom to listen to your audio without distortion, even when the volume has been turned up high. You'll find two ports on the back of the ProMonitor 1000 speaker system for appropriate wiring to your receiver. These black ports are designed to take banana plugs so that the wires remain firmly in place while the treble and bass speakers work hard.This sound system model is easy to use, and you can place it nearly anywhere with the included key mounts on the rear of the unit. You can hang the ProMonitor 1000 speaker system on a wall or other location with appropriate mounting accessories. These key mounts also give you the option of adding pivot mounts so that you can angle the components in almost any direction for greater functionality.These Definitive systems have an 8.56-inch deep frame, which makes them capable of remaining flush against a wall without taking up too much space. The nearly 9-inch wide frame size also creates a compact configuration for those who require space-saving components. The ProMonitor 1000 is available in both solid black and solid white models. Would have been great but...
Ordered 2 speakers but one is defective. One speaker sounds great but the other only clicks and chirps. I was sent a replacement tweeter which I installed but there is little difference. I paired up the Def Tech ProMonitor 1000's with a center channel 2000 from Def Tech, two PM 800's for the rears and a SuperCube 4000 for a sub. Super glad I went with the PM 1000's in the front vs the 800's. They provide a much fuller sound and complement the center speaker very well. The sub is probably a little more than the rest of this system can keep up with but then again, you cant have too much bass. For movies these speakers and the system is super solid. Very impressed. For music, where the fronts are more important, I think the mid rage is a little on the thin side, but for a true bookshelf/satellite speaker I didn't expect them to compare to a tower so they met my expectations. I have owned several Def Tech. I tried the SR8080s and PM800s as surrounds before getting the 1000s. The 8080s were very good,but I prefer direct radiators vs BPs for surrounds. The 1000s are a huge upgrade over the 800s. There is a night and day difference in sound quality, just fuller and richer.
