A little tip,is to lay each running board onto the tailgate upside down, then loosen the bolts that hold the support brackets on. Loosely mount the brackets, and install on the truck. The square nuts that are in the running board channel, will slide out of the groove. You will then need to drill out the end cap rivets that hold it in place, reinstall the nut into the groove, and install the end cap. Ask me how I know..

Step one is to clean the paint off of the studs on the truck. I used a demel and wire brush wheel on mine. Step 3 says to remove the six bolts under the board for Installation. Just loosen them until it is in place and ready to be bolted down. You will have a hard time recovering the nuts if they start sliding around in the track. I know from experience. 🤦
