      A good read for all

The Nightingale tells the story of two sisters, separated by years and experience. Each embarks on their own journey for survival, with love and freedom in German occupied France during World War II. So much is not written about the women during the war. Kristin Hannah gives us a real insight into their lives and struggles during this terrible time in history.

    • Top critical review

      Well read book

This one had even the cover rather bent and a few of the beginning pages could not get flattened out. I have all my Kristin Hannah books together and this one looks the most worn of all of them. Sad

    • So compelling and gripping - showing the human sides of surviving

If I could give this book 15 stars I would! I have to read more by this author...she was able to show two sisters, how different they were and how they handled the occupation of France during WWII! A MUST READ!

    • Thought provoking and keeps your interest

I was hooked almost immediately. Kristin Hannah knows how to set the hook. Her characters were strong and well done. I felt I knew them personally. I understood what it would be like to live in a conquered nation and have to do the enemy's bidding. I felt cold and hungry and fearful along with them. A person can tell how much he/she enjoyed the book by how much of an impact the book has made on them. I am still thinking about it weeks after reading it. I felt that the book was believable. The book is among my favorites and I read a lot.
