Understand, I am a long time friend of Leatherman. I still have one of the first tools ... plus a Wave, a Freestyle, a Wingman, Micra, squirt and others. Of the many, my favorite is the Micra. I have one that is "patent pending." Of the other two (all stainless, I think) I have one with the "shell" and one without. I mention the Micra because it is great as a mini pocket tool. The scissor is the best, it has a sharp blade, a superior nail file, and a tip for cleaning your nails. Even though there are other blades, these are the most important features to me. I was carrying a Victorinox "Gentleman" for years, but the last one I bought did not have a nail cleaning tip. I switched to the Micra. Along came the CS. The new styling was very attractive. It shares the same powerful scissors and sharp blade. I really appreciate being able to access the knife and file without opening the scissor section. Even though it does not give you as much of a handle as the Micra when using the knife or file, it is more than adequate. The clip is also useful. It seemed to have the best of the Micra. So if this is so fabulous, why did I clip off a star? Leatherman decided to replace the nail cleaner with a small, somewhat useless screwdriver. This is the same killer mistake Victorinox made. To me, this is a portable grooming tool not a power tool. Using the screwdriver for anything more than a tiny thumb screw would certainly damage the blade. A coin could be used. No, this little guy falls short of perfect. However, I do like it quite a lot and friends are always asking about it. Letterman, please make the small change and wind up in suit pockets all over the world. BTW: the little tweezer insert is a nice touch. Even with the small drawback, I would HIGHLY recommend this little guy to everyone!Read full review

For a multitool designed around scissors you think Leatherman would make sure it's a GOOD pair of scissors. These are horrible! The material that you're trying to cut just bends up between the blades. Cardboard was the only material that this tool would actually cut halfway decently, and that's really just by force. They won't cut fabric, tape or any other soft material. Even regular paper would get all bent up between the blades. Leatherman your scissors need work!

Pros: Simple and straight forward, the 831297 CS is great for edc. The scissors cut well with spring action, the knife is large enough for simple tasks, and the screwdriver/file does what it’s supposed to do. Cons: The tweezers is useless...it falls apart, and the wire “carabiner type” clip feels chincy, BUT it’s still working. All in all, it’s a very convenient tool to have in your pocket, if a full-sized original leatherman is too much or too bulky. The 831297 CS measures about 2”x.5”x.25”...perfect for a pants pocket, or a zippered pocket in an edc bag.

My first priority in a multi tool is a sturdy scissor type clip able to snap cable ties clean and quick. The precision & strength in this one is amazing! Next favorite feature is the built in carabiner hook, it hangs perfectly on my belt loop to be instantly accessible! The other tools are the very basic variety (each is excellent quality), fine for my needs as it keeps it small and light. Love it!

The leatherman CS Style minit tool has been the perfect tool for me as an avid fisherman as I can keep it on my keyring so it ius always availiable and the scissors are always availiable to cut fishing line, including braid. The blade will also cut line including braid if sharp. I use it contantly which is why this is my third CS Style. After years, the scissors dulled on my first one and since the bladed are pressed and can't be taken apart, they can't be sharpened. I lost my second one on a fishing trip so I immediately ordered my third.

Small and easy to carry in a pocket or clipped to belt hook. Scissors cut well and are handy for clipping off tag end of fishing line and plastic bands around various store items. Best left home when flying and avoid confusion at airports.

Well designed and small for every day carry. All tools are well placed for use. I did alter the screw driver tip to make it a fingernail cleaner as I didn't need the screw driver function. Scissors are great with the extended handle on one side providing leverage and control. For the price it is an excellent addition to your pocket.

I had one of these for years and lost it. I looked at several different multi-tools to replace it, and none were as perfect, so I bought a new one. The scissors instead of pliers are sharp and work very well. I have a tendency to split or break my nails while working on almost anything, and the scissors coupled with the file keep me from doing any more damage. The little knife is handy, and the tweezers have gotten me out of trouble more than once. All in all a great little tool for the small size and light weight.

Was looking for decent scissors while out and about. Typical ones found in Swiss Army are flimsier and are harder to get out. Ended up buying one for my wife I liked it so much
