Well, I have to admit that this is the second one I've gotten. So, I knew that it would work well if it was in good shape. Sony has had a very good reputation over the years. I needed something to play MP4 and play my burnt DVD's. It works great! Also it's able to play off a flash drive!

Should have known when there were no pictures. You need a remote to use it.No didn't have one a parts or use age book would have been nice No none of those. I'm really disappointed but live and learn. Look out trash can here it comes. This item is worthless should never have been put up for sale.

I bought this Blu-Ray player mainly due to the fact that you can stream netflix, youtube, and many other streaming programs through it. It does not have wifi and I prefer that because my internet through ethernet cable is faster. Only thing I did not like is that the menu/homescreen is a cheesy version os the PS3 menu/homescreen. And when it is loading programs or doing something, I always think that the system froze because it just does not do anything until the program loads and nothing moves to indicate that something is loading. But typing with that remote is really slow but it does work, it would be cool is you can use a bluetooth/usb alternative to it, but for the price I can not complain either. And one thing I really loved is that it does the video/audio output as RCA or HDMI so I have updated my old tv that is huge but works perfectly with this, I can watch netflix and everything on my really old CRT TV. But in the future when I do purchase a new TV I can just go ahead and hook this up through the HDMI port. So overall it is a great little system for a price you can not complain about.Read full review
This particular Blu-Ray player caught our eye because it came with Netlfix, Hulu, Pandora, and tons more but we have subscriptions to all three and found it difficult to find players that come standard with all three. According to other reviews perhaps a pitfall of this particular DVD player is that is does have some lag time/loading time delays but if you have any patience at all it is no big deal. We bought ours barely used and got it for $30. So, I would have to say even though it is an older model, $30 for a SONY Blu-Ray player is alright with us! Overall, the player does not have a bunch of bells and whistles so it is very appealing to those seeking a basic, standard Blu-Ray player. Also, extremely easy to use and set-up! We would give it an overall score of A- and for the price we think it's a pretty good value! :)Read full review
Great style, Great features, great picture. To date it has been working wonderfully, the picture is a beautiful true 1080p picture and Pure Blu ray quality. The Remote is a little small but has all the great features on it. The unit itself is a well designed sony product and a very small size with all the full blu ray features you would need. Being an older blu ray model if you want the internet options like netflix you would have to hard wire it with an Ethernet connection located on the back of the unit. Also being an older model blu ray it does take about 2 mins to load the dvd. But for the price it is well worth to me as I do enjoy it.
Product is fine; easy to use, simple, quick to set up, easy menu, One failure is constant 16.9 is not equivalent to actual size. It is artificially compressed. Could have been worse if watching Ben-Hur at a larger aspect ratio. It would be seen in it's entirety, but 'compressed and not expanded to normal extension across the screen. This involves top-to-bottom expansion of the ratio. Outside of that; crips, clear view and exceptional sound quality. No control over screen size, or particulars. Sound device, but no entirely flexible to size, I.e., 1:85 or 2:35, or 2:39 are all the same screen size. No alteration capapble. Good, but not good enough.
This is a Blu-Ray Player that is pretty basic, although it is adequately functional. I have gotten spoiled by more expensive models that have more bells and whistles than this one. It has a timer that times out pretty quick and evidently doesn't have a memory feature to go back to where it timed out. This requires that the blu-ray movie be restarted at the beginning and then selecting the correct "screen" to jump too and hope you find the right spot in the movie. In the time it takes to pause the movie, get up to use the bathroom and come back, it has already timed out and this is inconvenient! It can be connected to a router so that Netflix movies can be streamed; however, there is No provision for a wireless WiFi connection and since I only have wireless WiFi without a router or anyway to connect a router, this feature is not currently useable in my home. I am disappointed that this feature is not possible for me, as that was one of the reasons I opted to buy this unit. Overall, I am disappointed that the unit is not better, considering it is a SONY unit and I have high expectation of Sony products..... But then again, I was someone who purchased a Very Expensive BetaMax back in the 1980s! We all know what happened to BetaMax!! LOLRead full review
I was looking for an inexpensive, yet fully functional bluray Player. 3D was not an issue as I also have my PS3 hooked up to my big screen (just did not want to use it every time I wanted to watch a bluray movie). I found this inexpensive player on EBAY and have been very happy. Being a Sony product is a big plus and all internet apps work great (with a wired LAN connection). My refurbished player did not come with a remote, but I found a Sony universal on Amazon for about $6.00 w/ free s&h that works like a champ. Bottom Line: EXCELLENT INEXPENSIVE PLAYER and A SONY to BOOT!
The reconditioned player is like new. There are no blemishes or scratches on the unit. The media streaming features work very well. I am able to stream Netflix movies at 15Mbit/sec and the picture and sound is fantastic to the point of being close to blu-ray fidelity. I like how small the player is as the player fits neatly on top of my digital tv box. Blu-ray playback is great although I am confident my original first generation playstation 3 sounded and looked better than this player. All around a great buy for the price.
I love this thing. It not only plays Blu-Ray and DVD but it also turns your good-old HDTV into a "Smart TV" for it provides it with internect connectivity, which allows you to use services like Netflix and watching YouTube vids. It also lets you control both your TV and Player with one remote, as long as both are Sony. Something else I really like is the fact that my Vizio and Sony Bravia TVs won't read MP4 files, but this Blu-Ray player does! If I could change one thing about this product would be to add full internet connectivity, which is very difficult as it would require full browser capabilities. Other than that, it's pretty neat.
