    Audix OM series microphones

    I have been a weekend warrior for all of my adult life. I started off using the cheapest mics I could get my hands on, and sound quality suffered. I eventually went with all my musician friends suggestions and made the jump to Shure SM-58's. I used them for years. I happened upon Alice in Chains' unplugged video one time and was mesmerized by the clarity of Layne Staley's vocals. He was singing thru an Audix OM mic. I bought another OM2 a while back as an experiment. These are hands down clearer and hotter than the Shures ever thought about being. They are "next level" for me. This is my third OM2 mic. I keep three or four onhand for band situations. Although I still own four SM-58's, they are gathering dust in a case.

    Better than a SM58

    This turned out to be a great purchase for me. I was looking to pick up several used SM58's to go with the 3 SM58's I already had. Found these for $40 a piece and purchased them instead to save some money. When I got them I plugged both of them up just to check on them and make sure they were working properly. Well I was really surprised on how they sounded so I got out my SM58's to compare. These sound great they sounded bigger in terms of both frequency response and depth when compared to a SM58. The SM58 sounded very dull and midrange heavy almost as if there were high and low pass filters on it. Was so happy I bought 2 more and now have 4 OM2's and an OM7 that are my primary vocal mic's.

    The Best for me

    The sound Its shine, Clear and elegant. Not loud, not noise, not feedback. Its not better than ShureSM58 or Senheiser, Just Its same, but diferent sound.
