Synopsis
Malcolm Gladwell, bestselling author of Blink and The Bomber Mafia and host of the podcast Revisionist History , explores what sets high achievers apart --f rom Bill Gates to the Beatles -- in this seminal work from "a singular talent" ( New York Times Book Review ). In this stunning book, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers"--the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing. Along the way he explains the secrets of software billionaires, what it takes to be a great soccer player, why Asians are good at math, and what made the Beatles the greatest rock band. Brilliant and entertaining, Outliers is a landmark work that will simultaneously delight and illuminate., Learn what sets high achievers apart -- from Bill Gates to the Beatles -- in this #1 bestseller from "a singular talent" ( New York Times Book Review ). Ordering from Puffin Fever Collectables was a wonderful experience. The books shipped quickly and arrived generously packaged and in perfect condition. But beyond that, Puffin Fever Collectables offered outstanding service. I had inadvertently requested that the books be sent to an old address, but the seller worked with me to find a mutually beneficial solution to the situation, prompting a genuinely pleasant conversation in the process. Thank you so much, and best wishes for the future!

I am so impressed with this Seller! Response was fast and the item shipped quickly. It arrived with very neat and secure packaging - I could tell it was done with care and pride. The condition of the book itself was exactly as described and the price was great. Will definitely do business with this 5-Star Seller again.

The items were every bit as good as advertised, worth every penny, packed as well if not better than any items ever delivered to me, in an envelope marked with a fragile sticker, and delivered in record time. The seller’s care and attention to protecting the items against damage is unusual and very impressive! Many thanks!

See the road to success from a whole new angle!

Extensive research went in to telling the stories of successful people and dispels the myth that you have to be born to the right family or have an expensive education to be successful. It was intriguing to learn why the Beatles became the phenomenal band they were, and what started Bill Gates on the path that led to his success. What year, or what time of the year you're born can have a dramatic impact on your potential for success. A fascinating book that weaves various individual stories in a way that makes you want to read more. I was sorry to reach the last page.

Needs more about female success stories

A very interesting and debatable topic! I personally would feel defeated if I thought the only way to achieve success was through luck and your birthday! Hard work along with natural ability should be most important which is why people should be encouraged to follow their instincts after being introduced to all possibilities. If one path doesn't work out, people should be encouraged to try another until they find where they belong. Life is not always easy.............

  • Gladwell does it again!

Outliers is a great book. A little less scientific then some other books on theory and success but well worth the read. Its easy to understand the concepts and the real world examples are excellent. The additional stories from "real" people make the reading very interesting. I highly recommend this book. Check out the authors other titles when you have a chance.

  • I am enjoying my book so far!

I got this book out on a limb because I wanted to read an interesting non-fiction psychology book but wasn't sure which one to choose. I did little research and came across "Outliers". I chose the book, hoping for the best but not knowing what to expect, and the best is what I received.

  • in Good shape

Received the book in good situation, readable, no dust, few highlights (but as non-english speaker, found them very useful), I didn't want to review now (then realized that the book's review is different from the product's state rating xD). I liked it, thanks!
