    Nice basic cookbook for ingredients you can get in rural midwest.

    This is just what I wanted. However, it was not clean. Outside cover was clean, but the inside was not. I cleaned the inside covers and went page by page to clean what I could. I already have one just like this and it is very worn from 40 years of use, so the newly purchased is better than my own.

    A must-have basic in every kitchen...

    This cookbook has the basics for anyone who wants good, American fare. It's a must-have for any kitchen, as in addition to having basic, all-around good recipes for beginning and expert cooks, it contains meat time charts, measurement conversions, and many other basic necessary information in a single volume. The loose-leaf version is handy for the kitchen, too, because there is no problem keeping it open to follow the recipes with both hands free, instead of having to use one hand to keep the book propped open. I've used mine for 30 years, now, and no recipes in it are out-of-date. I give one to every high school grad among my friends and family, every bride, and every young couple needing a housewarming gift.

    Awesome CookBook

    My mom has one and hardly ever uses it, I love it. She wouldn't let me have hers so I had to get a copy before I move out. This cookbook is well organized, easy to understand and navigate. Great recipes, most of which don't have out of this world hard to find ingredients like many other cookbooks. Every time I use this book I get all kinds of compliments, and I love the food too! I'm prob. a beginner to intermediate cooker, but I would recommend this cookbook to anyone. Hope you'll do yourself a favor and get a copy! Good Luck! Happy Cookin'!

    Best cookbook of all time

    I bought this to replace my beat up and bartered 1981 cookbook. I have bought later versions and the recipes are NOT the same. If you like good old fashioned cooking, you have to get this cookbook. If you can find an 80s version for a good price, grab it. The cheesecake and cookie recipes alone are worth it! The ingredients substitution and cooking time charts are great too!
